Senior Software Developer

Introduction

The Senior Software Developer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining secure, scalable, and reliable software solutions that support GoBid’s operational and strategic objectives. The role works closely with business stakeholders, analysts, developers, and management to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions, improve existing platforms, and promote sound engineering practices across the software development lifecycle.

Duties & Responsibilities

Software Design & Development

• Design, develop, test, and maintain web applications, APIs, background services, and integrations using .NET and C#.
• Apply sound software architecture and development practices to produce scalable, maintainable, and reliable solutions.
• Translate functional and technical requirements into practical software designs and implementation plans.
• Build responsive web interfaces using appropriate JavaScript frameworks and supporting front-end technologies.
• Develop and optimize database objects, queries, and data access components, primarily using SQL.

Solution Architecture & Technical Quality

• Contribute to solution architecture, technical standards, coding conventions, and reusable design patterns.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive technical guidance to other developers.
• Ensure solutions meet requirements for security, performance, availability, supportability, and maintainability.
• Identify technical debt, defects, and architectural risks, and recommend practical remediation.
• Create and maintain appropriate technical documentation, including solution designs, interfaces, and deployment notes.

Cloud, Integration & DevOps

• Develop and support solutions hosted on the Microsoft Azure platform.
• Use Azure services, including serverless technologies where appropriate, to deliver efficient and scalable solutions.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and integrations between internal and external systems.
• Support continuous integration and deployment practices using Azure DevOps.
• Participate in release planning, production deployments, monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident resolution.

Stakeholder Engagement & Delivery

• Work with stakeholders to understand business needs, clarify requirements, and communicate technical options and constraints.
• Provide realistic technical input into planning, estimation, prioritization, and delivery decisions.
• Communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and implementation considerations clearly at all organizational levels.
• Collaborate effectively within an Agile development environment and contribute to team ceremonies and continuous delivery.

Continuous Improvement & Leadership

• Proactively identify opportunities to improve systems, development processes, automation, and engineering efficiency.
• Mentor and support developers through knowledge sharing, technical coaching, and collaborative problem-solving.
• Stay current with emerging software engineering, cloud, security, and development technologies.

Desired Experience & Qualification Technical Competencies

Essential

• Strong .NET and C# development experience.
• Strong theoretical understanding of software development practices and architecture concepts.
• Good working knowledge of ASP.NET and Web API development.
• Experience building web applications using JavaScript and modern front-end frameworks, with knowledge of jQuery, Bootstrap, or other is advantageous.
• Experience developing and operating solutions on Microsoft Azure.
• Knowledge of serverless computing and cloud-native solution patterns.
• Strong database development experience, ideally with SQL.
• Continuous integration and deployment experience using Azure DevOps.
• Exposure to Agile development methodologies.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving abilities.

Advantageous

• Experience with observability, performance optimization, and secure development practices.
• Experience with system integration, event-driven solutions, or high-volume transaction platforms.
• Experience within eCommerce, online marketplaces, automotive, auction, financial, or insurance environments.
• Exposure to AI-enabled application development.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or another applicable technical field, or an equivalent level of relevant experience.

Advantageous

• Microsoft Azure, .NET, DevOps, software architecture, or security-related certifications.

 

Experience

Required

• At least three to five years of experience in software architecture or development role.
• Demonstrated experience delivering and supporting production software solutions.
• Experience working across the software development lifecycle, from requirements and design through deployment and support.

Advantageous

• Experience supporting business-critical, customer-facing, or high-volume transaction systems.
• Experience mentoring developers or leading technical design and implementation activities.
