Google is an American technology company founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin and now the principal subsidiary of Alphabet, headquartered in Mountain View, California. It operates the world's dominant search engine and the advertising system built around it, along with YouTube, Android, Chrome, Gmail, Maps, Workspace and Google Cloud, reaching billions of users across nearly every internet-connected market. The company designs its own silicon in the Tensor Processing Unit line, develops the Gemini foundation models through Google DeepMind, and derives most of its revenue from advertising while cloud has become its fastest growing segment.

About the job

Our thirst for technology is a part of everything we do. The Data Center Engineering team takes the physical design of our data centers into the future. Our lab mirrors a research and development department -- cutting-edge strategies are born, tested and tested again. Along with a team of great minds, you take on complex topics like how we use power or how to run state-of-the-art, environmentally-friendly facilities. You're a visionary who optimizes for efficiencies and never stops seeking improvements -- even small changes that can make a huge impact. You generate ideas, communicate recommendations to senior-level executives and drive implementation alongside facilities technicians.

With your technical expertise, you ensure compliance with codes and standards, develop infrastructure improvements and serve as an expert in your specialty (e.g., cooling, electrical).

In this role, you will serve as the primary technical liaison during construction. Resolve design ambiguities and provide engineering solutions to field-fit challenges. You will perform rigorous, periodic site walk-throughs, review installation quality to ensure strict adherence to engineered drawings and specifications. You will identify and resolve conflicts between design intent and physical site constraints before they impact the construction schedule. You will apply a deep understanding of local codes (e.g., NEC/NFPA) and industry standards to ensure every installation is compliant and safe. You will act as a technical mentor and advisor to electrical contractors, ensuring the RFI process is streamlined and technically sound.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

  • Bring technical authority to the construction site. Serve as the bridge between design and execution, ensuring that complex power infrastructure is built safely and correctly.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in electrical engineering emphasizing power distribution and construction support for mission-critical facilities.
