Fuchsia is a modern, open-source operating system that’s simple, secure, updatable, and performant. Today, it powers Google’s Nest Hub Smart Display products. We work in the open - our code and reviews are open source: fuchsia.dev.

The Fuchsia WLAN Core team is part of Fuchsia’s Connectivity organization. Our goal is to bring reliable WLAN connectivity to Fuchsia. The Core team implements to the 802.11 specification, working closely with Driver and Policy teams to develop a full WLAN stack.

This opportunity is to participate in the development and sustenance of WLAN features for Fuchsia, integration and end-to-end tests, and power-save capabilities. We have a long roadmap to meet the feature set of today's flagship devices. Impact on Fuchsia's hardware platforms can be seen and felt quickly.

It’s a general purpose OS, designed to power an ecosystem of hardware and software, and provides core operating system functions like system resource management, a driver framework, and software abstractions.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $147000 - $210000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

• Design and develop WLAN features, focusing on 802.11 spec correctness.
• Write, review, and maintain Python-based WLAN tests that run in Fuchsia's infra connectivity test lab.
• Contribute to the next generation of infra device architecture for Fuchsia connectivity.
• Implement and monitor device metrics for crashes, performance, and feature rollout.
• Identify opportunities for improving the efficiency and performance of our software stack.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development in the Rust programming language.
• Experience in software engineering in a wireless networking environment.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Experience developing accessible technologies.
• Experience developing wireless networking protocols and devices.
