As an Interaction Designer, you'll apply user-centered design methods to craft industry-leading user experiences from concept to execution, working with design partners to evolve the Google design language to build beautiful, innovative products.

The Pixel UX team is a close-knit, interdisciplinary group that is responsible for developing Pixel hardware, apps, and experiences that are radically helpful, smart, and reliable. This position in our team provides the opportunity to define innovative UX that bridges the gap between hardware and Android software on the Pixel family of devices. We are looking for a strong hybrid interaction and visual designer who is excited about the future of mobile.

The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

US: $188000 - $274000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

• Lead all stages of the UX design process, including the conceptualization, design, prototyping, and specification of user interfaces for products.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, and partner teams across hardware and software to drive a cohesive user experience for Pixel hardware.
• Produce high-quality designs and patterns for mobile phones, adjacent devices, and emerging hardware.
• Guide problem-solving and strategy creation to develop new solutions and frameworks that evolve smartphone experiences.
• Establish an effective design practice to influence and mentor junior members of the team.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in product design or UX.
• Experience with design strategy, hardware, and Android.
• Experience in interaction design, visual design, prototyping, and material design.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 12 years of experience in product design or UX.
• 5 years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional organization.
• 4 years of experience leading design projects.
• 3 years of experience working with executive leaders.
• Experience designing across multiple platforms, including Android, and multiple form factors including mobile phones or emerging hardware.
