EDACloud is a large, complex service that requires high availability. Maintaining a high uptime is no simple feat, especially doing it in a way that allows for the growth we're seeing. Planning, attention to detail, and a healthy amount of paranoia are needed for success.

The Electronic Design Automation Cloud (EDACloud) Operations team plays a big role in the smooth operation of the service, from defining processes for managing incidents to developing automation to ensure upgrades are rolled out safely and slowly. They build out monitoring for internal use as well as for our users to understand the state of the service, and quickly debug when there are issues. They set up and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code, allowing them to manage the massive infrastructure in an auditable, predictable way. They automate processes to enable users to safely do tasks that are otherwise too risky to hand to users. They help debug and either fix or pass to a development team issues raised by users.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot technical issues, evaluate technical data, and develop recommendations for systems and services within the domain, respond to tickets/bugs within team-defined service-level objectives (SLOs), and contribute to systems and services in related domains through bug reports and consultation.
• Improve operations work and reduce support toil by proposing and implementing automation and process improvements. Help define the technical roadmap for the team’s service stack, evaluating new technologies and cloud-native tools to improve future scalability and performance.
• Scale and evolve reliable distributed microservices through automation, improving overall system velocity and availability.
• Work with customers and developers on defining distributed systems requirements, testing procedures, and proposing solutions.
• Participate in on-call and infrastructure monitoring. Deploy AI-driven automation for operations, and migrate custom chip design environments to cloud-hosted virtual workstations.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or IT-related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with Linux operating systems internals and administration, technical infrastructure (e.g., deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting), and with reliability of technical infrastructure.

Preferred qualifications:

• 5 years of experience with one or more programming/scripting languages (Go, Python and C++).
• 3 years of experience in Cloud Systems Design.
• Experience in environments - server virtualization, deployments and automation/configuration management, networking, and security fundamentals.
• EDA Tools/Chip Design experience. Experience interacting directly with end users/product aptitude and applying Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning techniques to generate insights for users.
• Passion for technology and delivering exceptional user experiences.
• Excellent communication, people management, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
