About Civil Service College (CSC)

The Civil Service College (CSC) is the public sector's integrated learning institution, committed to developing agile, future-ready public officers and organisations. 

As a Designer, you will work with Product Managers, Engineers, stakeholders, and users to shape digital learning products, from discovery and research to design, delivery, measurement, and iteration.

You will apply user-centred design practices to solve meaningful problems and improve learning experiences across the Public Service.

[What you will be working on]  

Shape useful and intuitive digital learning products 

• Own and deliver moderately complex design work for assigned DLE products or feature areas, from discovery and problem framing through implementation, measurement and iteration, working independently while collaborating closely with Product Managers, Engineers and stakeholders. 

• Translate user needs, operational requirements, product goals, and policies into intuitive experiences. 

• Create user journeys, information architecture, flows, wireframes, prototypes, and detailed designs. 

Discover user needs and define the right problems 

• Conduct interviews, observation, usability testing, surveys, and collaborative discovery. 

• Synthesize qualitative and quantitative evidence to identify needs, pain points, and opportunities. 

• Frame problems, validate assumptions, and prioritize opportunities with Product Managers and stakeholders. 

• Contribute design and user insights to DLE product strategy and roadmap discussions, translating research findings, product data, technology developments and relevant learning-sector trends into actionable recommendations. 

Design for the Public Service learning ecosystem 

• Design connected experiences across learning discovery, pathways, communities, reporting, and administration. 

• Address the needs of learners, learning professionals, administrators, and trainers. 

• Balance product needs with a consistent, coherent DLE experience. 

Collaborate to deliver high-quality experiences 

• Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, and stakeholders to resolve constraints and deliver a strong user experience. 

• Design and validate inclusive experiences that meet usability and accessibility standards. 

• Contribute reusable patterns and design system assets, and support accurate implementation. 

Learn, iterate, and strengthen the product practice 

• Use research, product data, and feedback to assess performance and guide iteration. 

• Apply and contribute to user-centred design methods and standards. 

• Share work, seek critique, and contribute to a collaborative design culture. 

What we are looking for  

• Degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience. 

• Typically 4 to 5 years in product, UX, service, interaction or related design disciplines. 

• Experience designing and shipping digital products through iteration. 

• Strong portfolio showing user-centred problem solving and end-to-end design. 

• Proficiency in Figma or equivalent design and prototyping tools. 

• Experience in user research, usability testing, and insight synthesis. 

• Ability to independently deliver defined work, surface risks, and seek guidance on complex issues. 

• Ability to explain design decisions using research, data, and stakeholder feedback. 

• Strong collaboration, communication, and openness to feedback. 

• We seek a user-centred, outcome-focused designer comfortable working in an agile product environment. 

Preferred 

• Experience in agile product teams with Product Managers and Engineers. 

• Experience designing enterprise platforms, learning products, or digital services. 

• Familiarity with accessibility and inclusive design. 

• Experience with data-informed product development and experimentation. 

• Familiarity with approved AI tools for research synthesis, design exploration, and prototyping, used responsibly. 

• Experience contributing to design systems.
