Get to know the Team:

Come join the Consumer Experience (CX) Engineering team. We work on a diverse set of consumer experience problems for our users. These problems span across core experiences, powering the UX navigation and transaction funnels, content and service discovery, user engagement, and the mobile application developer experience for the Grab app.

Get to know the Role:

This position is for the consumer application core team. The team works on a highly technical and complex roadmap of initiatives. The initiatives cover mobile developer experience, internal generative AI tools, our design system, and a diverse set of platform health metrics. We are looking for a highly autonomous and hands-on Engineering Manager II to drive the strategy, execution, delivery and people management of this team.

You will work onsite at the Grab Bengaluru office and will be reporting to Senior Engineering Manager

The Day-to-Day Activities:

• Lead a team of iOS and Android mobile engineers across to strategize and deliver a high impact roadmap that raises the bar on application health and developer experience
• Lead the half yearly planning and build a smooth execution plan with the team for securing the delivery of the engineering roadmap, you are the ultimate owner of the successful delivery and rollout of your roadmap.
• Drive company-wide engineering initiatives by collaborating effectively with senior leaders across the company by employing your mastery of technologies, communicating your ideas effectively and driving alignment with key stakeholders to create successful outcomes.
• Set the engineering strategy and engineering excellence metrics and targets for the team, consistently improve for application stability and developer experience
• Attract and retain talent senior engineering talent, actively mentor and develop engineering talent in the team and across Grab
• Keep your teams, org structure and staffing aligned with emerging needs and quickly pivot teams to execute on priorities

Essential Skills You Will Need

• 8+ years engineering experience on mobile engineering technologies and at least 3+ years of leadership experience.
• Experience in CI/CD for mobile applications along with hands on knowledge of build systems such as Xcode, Gradle and/or Bazel
• Experience as a successful mobile engineering leader in large scale, highly stable consumer mobile applications.
• Experience leading a midsize team of engineers driving large-scale engineering initiatives that span across the organization
• Experience in mentoring senior engineers is critical to this role
• Have experience communicating updates and resolutions to the partners and complex technical topics to technical and non-technical audiences effectively
• A cultural role model with a strong sense of empathy coupled and a passionate commitment to engineering excellence

Good to Have

• A background in managing UI component libraries that ensure user interface consistency
• Familiarity with building generative AI applications
• Prior experience maintaining developer productivity tools or working on mobile platforms
