General Summary
The welder is responsible for fabricating and assembling metal structures and equipment through the use of welders, cutters, shapers and measuring tools.Essential Job Accountabilities
- Perform welding operations on pipe, vessels, structural skids and other equipment.
- Ability to weld both CS and SS piping.
- Layout, cut, fit and otherwise prepare material for welding.
- Fabricate material from piping schematics and other drawings, working from blueprints, sketches or verbal instructions.
- Operate oxy-acetylene torch to cut, braze, weld and solder.
- Responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment as needed.
- Perform quality detailing work, grinding, polishing, etc.
- Identify, report and correct safety and environmental concerns, performing all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Complete all appropriate documentation and paperwork.
Education
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience
Certification
- Valid driver's license
- Welding certifications a plus, but not required
Work Experience
- Minimum 2 years' experience in pipeline construction and welding procedures
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Prior experience with drilling, welding casing is a plus.
- Experienced in Stick, Wire Feed, TIG
- Experience with conceptualizing and designing for fabrication
- Forklift certification
- Be able to routinely lift heavy equipment up to 50 pounds
- Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy
- Look at flat drawings, pictures, and blueprints and visualize how they would look as solid objects with height, width, and depth
- Have good written and verbal communication skills
- Be able to promote the safety culture within our company by working within the safety policies established by Granite and our customers.
- Be willing to perform a variety of tasks as may be necessary to promote completion of work, including assisting on other projects as necessary.

- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.
