About The Role

We’re looking for a commercially astute and detail-oriented IT Commercial Manager to oversee the financial and contractual operations of our IT function. This is a strategic role that blends financial oversight, vendor management, and governance to ensure cost-effective, compliant, and high-performing IT service delivery.

You’ll be instrumental in managing budgets, contracts, and supplier relationships, while providing commercial insights that drive value across the business. If you thrive in cross-functional environments and have a sharp eye for detail, negotiation, and financial strategy-this could be the perfect fit.

As IT Commercial Manager, you will:

  • Contract Management

    • Negotiate, review, and manage IT contracts and renewals.

    • Ensure compliance with contractual terms and SLAs.

    • Maintain a central repository of all IT contracts and documentation.

  • Financial Oversight

    • Manage IT budgets, forecasts, and actuals in collaboration with Finance.

    • Support the IT Finance Admin in tracking and reconciling IT spend across vendors, services, and projects.

    • Oversee invoice processing and payment validation to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

  • Vendor & Supplier Management

    • Act as the primary contact for IT suppliers and service providers.

    • Monitor vendor performance and escalate issues as needed.

    • Support procurement and tendering activities.

  • Reporting & Analysis

    • Produce regular reports on IT spend, savings, and commercial performance.

    • Identify cost-saving opportunities and support strategic sourcing initiatives.

    • Provide commercial insights to IT leadership.

  • Governance & Compliance

    • Ensure adherence to financial controls and procurement policies.

    • Support audits and risk assessments related to IT commercial activities.

  • Team Leadership

    • Line manage a Finance Admin responsible for invoice processing and reconciliation.

    • Provide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback.

    • Delegate tasks effectively while maintaining quality oversight.

    • Support professional development and ensure workload alignment with business priorities.

About You

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of IT contracts, procurement, and vendor management.

  • Excellent analytical and reconciliation skills.

  • Proficiency in financial systems and tools (e.g., Excel, ERP platforms).

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with IT, Finance, Legal, and Procurement teams.

  • Degree in Business, Finance, IT, or related field (preferred).

  • Professional certifications (e.g., CIPS, ITIL, Prince2) are a plus.

  • Experience managing IT budgets over £10M+.

Personal Attributes

  • Detail-Oriented: Precision in managing contracts, invoices, and reconciliations.

  • Commercially Astute: Understands cost drivers and financial impact of IT decisions.

  • Analytical Thinker: Interprets financial data and identifies savings opportunities.

  • Strong Communicator: Explains complex financial concepts clearly.

  • Negotiator: Secures favourable terms with vendors and suppliers.

  • Organised & Methodical: Manages multiple contracts and deadlines efficiently.

  • Problem Solver: Resolves discrepancies and inefficiencies proactively.

  • Collaborative: Works effectively across departments.

  • Ethical & Trustworthy: Handles sensitive information with integrity.
