Sr. Oracle DBA Engineer - (Automation)

We are looking for an experienced Senior Oracle Database Engineer with strong expertise in Oracle Database Administration, performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery, database migration, and enterprise database technologies.

The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard, OCI, AWS, Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), RMAN, database patching, performance tuning, and database migration. Experience in automating repetitive Oracle DBA activities using technologies such as Ansible, Git, Jenkins, Groovy, Terraform, Bash, and Python will be highly valuable.

The role involves supporting multiple technology projects simultaneously within a large-scale enterprise environment. The successful candidate should be comfortable working under pressure, managing competing priorities, and participating in out-of-hours or weekend activities when required.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Provide senior-level Oracle database administration and engineering support for technology projects and enterprise platforms.
• Design, implement, maintain, and support highly available and resilient Oracle database environments.
• Perform advanced Oracle database performance tuning, including SQL tuning, database tuning, workload analysis, and performance optimization.
• Administer and support Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) environments.
• Administer and support Oracle Data Guard environments for high availability and disaster recovery.
• Manage Oracle databases across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and AWS environments.
• Monitor and manage database environments using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
• Perform database backup, recovery, and restore activities using Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN).
• Plan and execute Oracle database patching, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
• Perform database migrations across environments and platforms while ensuring minimal business disruption.
• Analyze and resolve complex database performance, availability, and production issues.
• Develop and maintain database administration standards, procedures, and operational documentation.
• Support multiple technology projects and database initiatives concurrently.
• Work closely with application, infrastructure, cloud, security, development, and technology teams to support project delivery.
• Participate in incident management, root-cause analysis, problem management, and production support activities.
• Automate repetitive Oracle DBA activities and operational processes using modern automation technologies.
• Identify opportunities to improve database administration efficiency through scripting, automation, and DevOps practices.
• Participate in Agile delivery practices and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Technical Skills

Oracle Database Administration

• 8+ years of strong hands-on experience in Oracle Database Administration / Engineering within large enterprise environments.
• Excellent knowledge of Oracle Database administration and architecture.
• Strong hands-on experience with Oracle RAC.
• Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Data Guard.
• Strong experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
• Strong experience with Oracle RMAN.
• Strong experience in Oracle database patching.
• Strong experience in Oracle database performance tuning, including:
• SQL tuning
• Database tuning
• Query optimization
• Performance analysis and troubleshooting
• Strong experience in Oracle database migration.

Cloud

• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with AWS.

Database / Programming

• Good knowledge of SQL and/or PL/SQL.
• Good knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems.
• Strong scripting experience using Bash and/or Python.

Automation & DevOps

• Strong experience with Ansible.
• Strong experience with Git.
• Good knowledge of Jenkins and Groovy.
• Good knowledge of Terraform.
• Ability to automate repetitive Oracle DBA tasks and operational processes using scripting and infrastructure/configuration automation tools.

Banking & Enterprise Experience

• Experience working within large-scale enterprise organizations is essential.
• Previous experience in the banking / financial services domain is desirable.
• Experience supporting or managing analytical databases / database platforms is desirable.
• Experience working in highly regulated, business-critical technology environments is an advantage.
