About the role
We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team, helping build and evolve the internal platforms, automation capabilities, and AI-assisted engineering solutions used across our engineering organization.
This is not a traditional infrastructure operations role - it sits at the intersection of software engineering, platform engineering, cloud engineering, developer experience, automation, and applied AI. You'll contribute to internal developer platforms and control plane capabilities that simplify how engineering teams build, deploy, operate, govern, and troubleshoot applications across cloud environments.
The ideal candidate is a strong software engineer who understands modern cloud and DevOps practices, enjoys solving engineering productivity problems, and is comfortable integrating AI technologies into real engineering workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Engineering & Product Development
- Design, develop, and maintain capabilities within our Internal Developer Platform / Internal Control Plane
- Build reliable backend services, APIs, integrations, and workflows used by engineering teams
- Develop self-service capabilities that reduce manual operational work and improve developer experience
- Build reusable platform services and abstractions rather than one-off automation scripts
- Contribute to service catalogs, environment management, release management, governance, developer portals, and golden paths
- Build user-friendly platform interfaces and APIs that abstract away unnecessary infrastructure complexity
- Develop event-driven and workflow-driven automation for engineering processes
Software Engineering
- Develop production-quality applications and services using modern software engineering practices
- Design clean, maintainable, testable, and extensible software architectures
Cloud Engineering
- Develop multi-cloud solutions running across AWS and Azure
- Work with cloud services including compute, storage, networking, IAM, containers, serverless, and managed services
CI/CD & Developer Experience
- Develop, improve, and refactor CI/CD pipelines, reusable pipeline components, and deployment workflows
- Integrate platform capabilities with GitLab CI/CD
- Improve developer experience through golden paths, project scaffolding, and automated governance
AI-Assisted Engineering
- Develop AI-assisted engineering workflows and agentic automation for Platform Engineering and DevOps use cases
- Build solutions capable of analysing engineering metrics
- Work with APIs and SDKs from modern AI platforms and model providers
- Build AI capabilities with appropriate security, governance, observability, cost controls, and human approval mechanisms
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent)
- Experience with at least one modern programming language: Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, or Go
- Solid grounding in REST APIs, backend application development, OOP and/or functional programming, data structures and algorithms
- Experience with Git and automated testing
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and software design fundamentals
Added Advantages
- Working knowledge of AWS and/or Azure
- Experience with GitLab or equivalent source code platforms
- Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and best practices
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Packer)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Comfort with Linux, cloud IAM and security fundamentals, networking fundamentals, and monitoring/logging tools
- Prior professional experience in software engineering, cloud engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering
- Demonstrated experience developing software or engineering automation
