DevOps Engineer

We are building a communication platform that handles millions of concurrent connections and delivers messages in milliseconds. As a System & Network Infrastructure Engineer, you won't just be managing cloud resources; you'll be designing, automating, and optimising scalable infrastructure using modern DevOps practices. You will work on cloud architecture, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and high-performance systems supporting real-time messaging.

Responsibilities:

• Scale the Infrastructure: Architect and maintain highly available cloud infrastructure on AWS (or GCP equivalents) to ensure scalability and low-latency performance for real-time messaging.
• Infrastructure as Code: Automate provisioning of global infrastructure using Terraform and Ansible to maintain consistency and achieve five nines (99.999%) uptime.
• CI/CD and Automation: Build and manage CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD) to enable seamless, reliable, and automated deployments.
• Monitoring and Observability: Implement and manage monitoring systems (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Loki) to proactively identify bottlenecks and ensure system reliability.
• Traffic Engineering: Design and manage L4/L7 load balancing (NGINX, HAProxy, Cloud Load Balancers) and implement routing strategies for efficient traffic distribution.
• Protocol Optimisation: Ensure maximum network throughput by optimising protocols, improving latency, and enhancing connection handling.
• OS and Kernel Tuning: Optimise file descriptors, memory allocation, and the Linux networking stack to ensure maximum performance on each server.
• Security and Privacy: Implement cloud and network security best practices, including zero-trust architecture and encryption protocols.

Requirements:

• DevOps-Focused: Strong hands-on experience with AWS, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and monitoring tools.
• Networking Savvy: You have a solid grasp of the OSI model and understand how the internet actually works, from 3-way handshakes to routing.
• Linux Expert: You are at home in a Linux-based environment and can debug system or network-level issues with ease.
• Performance Obsessed: You hate bloat and latency; you constantly optimise systems for scalability and efficiency.
• Curious and Scrappy: You have a history of breaking (and fixing) complex systems and likely have hands-on experience with distributed environments.

The Tech Stack:

• Cloud: AWS (EC2 VPC, IAM, Load Balancers, CloudWatch) or GCP equivalents.
• Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Ansible.
• CI/CD: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD.
• Monitoring & Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Loki
• Containers: Docker and Kubernetes (Deep understanding of CNI and Service Mesh).
• Networking: TCP/IP, UDP, DNS and Anycast routing.
• Load Balancing: HAProxy, NGINX, and Cloud Load Balancers.
• Languages: Python or Bash for automation and tooling.
• Queue: Kafka, Redis.
