Job Summary

MFR( Finance ) Team Lead JD:

MFR (Manage Financial Resources) Team Lead to provide leadership and delivery oversight for the Suncor Finance technology landscape. This role will serve as the primary point of accountability for support services, enhancement delivery, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across SAP Finance, Tax, Treasury, Credit Management, Payments, Group Reporting, Hydrocarbon Accounting, and associated enterprise integrations.

The successful candidate will lead a team of functional consultants and coordinate with technical specialists, integration resources, and managed service professionals while partnering closely with Suncor Solution Designers, Product Owners, Architects, and Finance stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Service Delivery Leadership

• Lead SAP Finance application support and service delivery activities.
• Own operational performance, SLA compliance, backlog management, and service health.
• Provide governance over incidents, service requests, enhancements, and project deliveries.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance business and IT performance.
• Coordinate onshore and offshore delivery teams.

Finance Portfolio Leadership

Provide leadership across MFR capabilities including:

• General Ledger (FI)
• Accounts Payable
• Accounts Receivable
• Treasury Management
• Payments
• Tax
• Credit Management
• Fixed Assets
• Hydrocarbon Accounting
• Settlements
• Financial Close (FCC) and Consolidations (Group Reporting)
• External Reporting and related Finance processes

Stakeholder Management

• Act as the primary contact for the MFR portfolio.
• Build trusted relationships with Suncor business leaders and D&IT stakeholders.
• Facilitate prioritization discussions, roadmap planning, and operational reviews.
• Communicate service risks, issues, decisions, and mitigation plans.
• Present operational health and delivery performance to senior leadership.

Incident & Problem Management

• Lead response and resolution activities for critical production incidents.
• Manage Major Incident and Sev-1 bridges.
• Coordinate root cause analysis and corrective action plans.
• Drive reduction of recurring incidents and technical debt.
• Ensure production stability during critical Finance processes such as month-end close and payment runs.

Enhancement & Project Delivery

• Manage enhancement delivery from intake through deployment.
• Ensure alignment with Suncor governance and architecture standards.
• Support strategic programs, upgrades, and transformation initiatives.
• Prioritize demand while balancing operational commitments.
• Coordinate testing, deployment, and business readiness activities.

Automation & Innovation

• Identify opportunities for automation and AI adoption.
• Drive implementation of Finance automation solutions.
• Evaluate use cases utilizing SAP, Power Platform, Copilot, and related technologies.
• Measure business value and operational effectiveness of automation initiatives.

Integration Management

• Oversee support and delivery of Finance-related integrations.
• Troubleshoot SAP interface, IDoc, API, middleware, and batch-processing issues.
• Coordinate with integration, infrastructure, and application teams.
• Ensure reliability of critical Finance interfaces.

Resource Management

• Lead a team consisting of consultants, offshore support resources, and technical specialists.
• Manage resource planning, capacity management, and workload balancing.
• Ensure knowledge management and succession planning.
• Monitor delivery quality and consultant performance.

Skill Requirements

• 10+ years of SAP Finance leadership and delivery experience.
• Strong expertise in SAP S/4HANA Finance.
• Experience supporting large Finance organizations within a managed services environment.
• Deep understanding of:
• SAP FI/CO
• Treasury
• Tax
• AP/AR
• Credit Management
• Payments
• Group Reporting/FCC
• Experience managing service delivery teams in global delivery models.
• Strong communication and executive presentation skills.
• Proven vendor and stakeholder management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting oil and gas or energy industry Finance processes.
• Knowledge of Hydrocarbon Accounting and Settlements.
• Experience with SAP integrations, MuleSoft, APIs, and middleware platforms.
• Experience leading SAP S/4HANA upgrades and transformation programs.
• Exposure to AI, automation, Power Platform, Copilot, and Finance digitalization initiatives.
