Job Description - Java Engineer 3

We are hiring a hands-on Java Engineer 3 to join our CLFR engineering team. This role is positioned between mid-level and senior engineering and is well suited for an experienced developer who is ready to take ownership of technical deliverables while continuing to grow toward a senior role. The successful candidate will work on modern backend applications using Java 17, Java 21, Spring Boot, microservices, PostgreSQL, and Azure DevOps. This is a strong opportunity for an engineer who enjoys writing clean code, solving technical problems, contributing to design discussions, and supporting reliable application delivery in an agile enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

Primary skill is - Advance Java with Java 17 and Java 21

• Develop, enhance, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java 17 and Java 21.
• Design and implement microservices using Spring Boot and related Java frameworks.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs, backend services, and integration components for enterprise platforms.
• Write clean, efficient, secure, and maintainable code following engineering best practices.
• Perform hands-on coding, debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Work with PostgreSQL databases, including schema design, SQL development, query tuning, indexing, and performance improvement.
• Create and maintain unit tests, integration tests, and code quality checks to support reliable delivery.
• Take ownership of assigned features and technical components from development through deployment and production support.
• Use Azure DevOps for source control, build pipelines, release pipelines, deployment workflows, and CI/CD automation.
• Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, QA engineers, architects, DevOps engineers, and other development teams.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support production issue analysis, root cause investigation, and implementation of preventive improvements.
• Contribute actively to agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.

Skill Requirements

Required Skills and Experience

• Strong hands-on Java development experience, preferably with Java 17 and Java 21.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and microservices implementation.
• Good understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, clean code, and secure coding practices.
• Strong coding, debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, including SQL development, query optimization, indexing, and database performance tuning.
• Experience in building backend services, REST APIs, enterprise applications, and distributed microservices solutions.
• Experience with Git-based source control and collaborative development workflows.
• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, including Repos, Boards, Pipelines, build automation, release pipelines, and deployment workflows.
• Good understanding of CI/CD practices and DevOps ways of working.
• Ability to work independently on moderately complex technical tasks while collaborating effectively with the team.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and business stakeholders.

Other Requirements

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerization and orchestration tools.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud services and cloud-native application delivery.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, alerting, and application support activities.
• Exposure to automated testing frameworks, static code analysis, and code quality tools.
• Understanding of application performance tuning, reliability, and secure software delivery.
• Experience with release management, environment coordination, and deployment support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Typically 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in Java development, backend engineering, or enterprise application development.
• Proven hands-on experience across application development, microservices implementation, PostgreSQL database work, and Azure DevOps delivery activities.
