We are seeking a Cloud Engineer with Microsoft Azure expertise to support cloud-connected and hybrid infrastructure services used by AMD Fleet Services. The role provides operational monitoring, troubleshooting, technical validation, authorized remediation, escalation, and documentation for Azure dependencies that are explicitly within IOQ scope.
This engineer will bridge cloud and on-premises operations, helping IOQ identify whether incidents originate in cloud services, identity, connectivity, compute, automation, or downstream Fleet Services dependencies.
THE PERSON
You are a practical cloud operations engineer with strong systems fundamentals. You use Azure-native telemetry and infrastructure evidence to diagnose issues, automate repeatable work, and maintain clear ownership boundaries across Fleet Services, AMD IT, security, platform teams, and cloud providers.
Key Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and support approved Azure services and hybrid dependencies used by in-scope Fleet Services operations.
- Investigate cloud-related incidents using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, activity logs, resource health, metrics, alerts, and configuration state.
- Validate L1 findings, isolate cloud, identity, network, compute, storage, or application dependencies, and execute authorized recovery actions.
- Support operational health of Azure virtual machines, subscriptions, resource groups, managed identities, access controls, storage, networking, and automation components where assigned.
- Create and maintain cloud SOPs, diagnostic procedures, escalation criteria, architecture references, and ticket-evidence standards.
- Use infrastructure-as-code and automation to improve repeatability, configuration consistency, monitoring coverage, and operational recovery.
- Coordinate with SRE, AMD IT, Information Security, platform owners, and Microsoft support for services or controls outside IOQ ownership.
- Support change planning, validation, rollback readiness, and post-change verification for approved cloud changes.
- Contribute cloud service indicators, objectives, dashboards, alerts, capacity insights, and reliability improvement recommendations.
- Mentor L1 staff on approved cloud triage and identify safe opportunities to shift repeatable cloud checks to L1 or automation.

- Experience with Terraform or Bicep, Ansible, Azure CLI, PowerShell, Python, APIs, and Git-based change workflows.
- Understanding of observability, incident response, operational readiness, backup/recovery, resiliency, and cost/capacity considerations.
- Ability to create precise operational documentation and coordinate effectively across cloud, infrastructure, security, and application teams.
