Job Summary
AWS Solutions Architect
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are hiring a Principal AWS Solutions Architect at Band 4.1 to lead our most complex, high-value AWS engagements. This is a senior technical leadership role that sits at the intersection of cloud architecture, AI/ML platform design, and client advisory. You will be the pre-eminent AWS voice in your accounts - setting architectural direction, de-risking large-scale cloud transformations, and helping clients extract maximum business value from their AWS investment.
At Band 4.1, you are expected to influence beyond delivery: shaping HCLTech's AWS practice strategy, contributing to alliance deepening with AWS, mentoring a team of architects, and establishing HCLTech as the partner of choice for cloud-native AI in your industry verticals. You hold the technical trust of CTO and VP Engineering audiences, while remaining commercially grounded and outcome-focused.
Key Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Enterprise Architecture & Technical Leadership
- Define and own end-to-end AWS cloud architecture for large-scale enterprise programmes: cloud migrations, application modernisation, data platforms, and AI/ML workloads
- Produce authoritative architecture artefacts: solution blueprints, HLDs/LLDs, ADRs (Architecture Decision Records), and cloud reference architectures
- Lead technical due diligence for complex client environments - legacy systems, hybrid clouds, multi-cloud estates
- Establish AWS Well-Architected Review cadences and drive remediation of findings across client accounts
- Define cloud landing zone and control-plane designs using AWS Control Tower, AWS Organizations, and Service Control Policies
AI/ML Platform Architecture on AWS
- Architect enterprise-grade AI/ML platforms on AWS: Amazon SageMaker, Bedrock, Kendra, Comprehend, and Rekognition
- Design GenAI and LLM deployment patterns on AWS - RAG architectures on Bedrock, fine-tuning pipelines, agentic frameworks via Bedrock Agents
- Define MLOps reference architectures: feature engineering on SageMaker Feature Store, model registry, CI/CD for ML models, and production monitoring
- Advise on cost-optimised GPU/Inferentia/Trainium compute strategies for large AI workloads
- Integrate AI services with enterprise data lakes (S3, Lake Formation, Glue) and real-time streaming (Kinesis, MSK)
Cloud Transformation & Migration
- Lead cloud strategy and migration factory design for large application portfolios - 6R assessment, wave planning, and cutover orchestration
- Architect cloud-native application re-platforming using containers (EKS, ECS), serverless (Lambda, Step Functions), and event-driven patterns
- Design hybrid and multi-cloud connectivity: AWS Direct Connect, Transit Gateway, SD-WAN integration
- Define FinOps guardrails: tagging strategy, cost allocation, Savings Plans, rightsizing recommendations, and showback models
Security, Compliance & Governance
- Design end-to-end AWS security architectures aligned to NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, and industry-specific regulations (HIPAA, PCI-DSS)
- Architect zero-trust network designs using AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, Macie, and IAM Identity Centre
- Define data residency and sovereignty controls for global clients with cross-border workload requirements
- Lead cloud governance framework design: policy-as-code (AWS Config Rules, SCPs), audit pipelines, and compliance dashboards
Client Advisory & Pre-Sales
- Act as the trusted technical advisor to CTO, VP Engineering, and Cloud COE leaders at strategic client accounts
- Lead cloud architecture workshops, executive briefings, and AWS Executive Briefing Centre (EBC) engagements
- Own technical responses for RFPs/RFQs - architect the solution, price the build, and present to client evaluation panels
- Identify and develop new service opportunities within existing accounts; support pursuit teams on new logo engagements
Practice & Alliance Development
- Drive HCLTech's AWS competency and specialisation growth - co-develop reference architectures and joint go-to-market assets with AWS
- Maintain and advance HCLTech's AWS Premier Partner standing through solution validations, APN programs, and specialisation audits
- Lead internal AWS CoE: define standards, architectural patterns, reusable IaC modules (Terraform, CDK), and accelerators
- Mentor Bands 2.x-3.x architects; conduct architecture reviews, 1:1 coaching, and certification drives
- Represent HCLTech at AWS re:Invent, AWS Summits, and industry cloud forums as a thought leader

- Prior experience at an AWS Partner, hyperscaler professional services arm, or enterprise cloud practice in a senior architect or director capacity
