Job Summary
Total experience
15+ years in banking QA / test management, 8+ years leading end-to-end testing of core banking and payments implementations
Domain
Payments (SEPA, instant, cards, SWIFT), core banking, digital onboarding
Greenfield
At least one bank launch tested from zero: no legacy baseline, external certification calendars, cut-over into live schemes
Scope
Test strategy and plan, SIT, data testing, end-to-end interface testing, performance/resilience, UAT, certification support, cut-over and hypercare
Seniority
Manager of a 10-25 person test team incl. vendors and offshore
Greenfield digital bank being licensed in Spain (ECB / Banco de España) with a payments-first proposition: instant account opening, SEPA SCT / SCT Inst, Bizum, tokenised cards, cross-border via correspondents. Year 1 launches on sponsor-bank and processor rails; Years 2-3 bring SWIFT, credit, and direct participation in Iberpay / T2 / TIPS.
Location: Madrid (hybrid); travel to Spanish and EU sites as required. Working languages: Spanish (professional) and English (professional). Contract: full-time, 24-36 month programme with permanent conversion possible.
Role summary
Own quality across the whole programme: from the Master Test Strategy through SIT, data and interface testing, scheme and processor certification cycles, UAT with the business, to the cut-over rehearsals and hypercare for a payments-first digital bank in Spain. You know that in payments the calendar is owned by the schemes and the sponsor, that instant payments and card authorisations are 24/7, and that a reconciliation difference is a defect.
Key Responsibilities
Define and own the overall test strategy, test plan and estimates across functional, SIT, integration/interface, regression, performance, data-migration and UAT phases for Temenos T24/Transact and TPH.
Lead end-to-end testing for payments - covering SWIFT, clearing, instant payments, direct debits, book transfers, bulk/file payments, inward payments, amendments/cancellations and exception handling.
Design and grow the test automation framework and regression suite (e.g. Selenium/TestNG, Tosca, UFT, or OFS-injection based) to maximise coverage and reduce release cycle time.
Drive the shift-left and OFS-injection strategy - reserving UI automation for critical business journeys and moving volume coverage to integration-level testing for stability and scale.
Adopt AI/GenAI-assisted testing (auto test-case generation, self-healing scripts, test impact analysis) to accelerate delivery and improve coverage, leveraging HCLTech AI-Force / client accelerators.
Plan and manage test data, test environments and COB (Close of Business) cycles across multi-company, multi-currency payment scenarios.
Validate payment integration points - message routing/transformation, screening & fraud/sanctions (FCM/AML) integration, accounting entries (FT/PEMINT), and status reporting (e.g. pain.002).
Govern the defect lifecycle - triage, prioritisation and resolution - using JIRA/Xray, HP ALM/Quality Center, Zephyr or Azure DevOps, minimising defect leakage into production.
Publish QA metrics and dashboards (test coverage, execution progress, defect leakage) and provide regular status, risk and issue reporting to the PMO and stakeholders.
Coordinate testing across interfacing systems - core banking, channels, middleware/ESB, APIs (IRIS/TCIB) and clearing connectivity - aligned to release and change management.
Manage and mentor onshore/offshore test teams - resourcing, work allocation, coaching and TCoE setup/governance - ensuring productivity and quality standards.

Outputs - status messages and reports, reservation & posting accuracy in Transact, multi-company posting validation and reconciliation.

Exposure to FCM (Financial Crime Mitigation) / sanctions-screening testing and CBPR+ ISO 20022 migration.
