About the role
The Lead Deburr Technician oversees daily operations of the deburr department, leading a growing team of 2-3 technicians. This role is responsible for tracking jobs through the department via job traveler, ensuring parts meet quality and finish specifications, and guiding and supporting the team's day-to-day work.
What you'll do
· Lead and coordinate the daily work of 2-3 deburr technicians, assigning tasks based on job priority and due dates.
· Track job status through the deburr department using travelers.
· Perform hands-on deburring and finishing work using hand tools, power tools, the parts washer, and bag/box parts to turn into inventory.
· Remove burrs, sharp edges, and surface defects to ensure they meet blueprint/quality specifications. (Primarily aluminum/plastic parts)
· Train and mentor team members on proper deburring techniques, tool use, and safety practices.
· Maintain and organize deburr tools, and work area.
· Coordinate with machinists to resolve part issues or determine necessary rework.
· Enforce safety protocols within the department.
· Communicate job progress, delays, or bottlenecks to the Machine Shop Manager
Required Qualifications
·One year of prior deburring/finishing experience in a machine shop preferably with aluminum and plastic parts, or comparable finishing/deburr experience.
·Auto Body detail experience may apply.
·Prior lead or informal supervisory experience preferred.
·Strong communication and organizational skills and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
·Ability to stand for extended periods.
·Manual dexterity for hand tools and power tools.
·Ability to lift 50 lbs.
