Key Responsibilities (What You Are Doing)

• Prepare journal entries and assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure financial accuracy.
• Support the preparation of financial reports and maintain accurate accounting records.
• Assist with account analyses, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance reporting.
• Collaborate with internal business partners across Hearst Magazines' brands to support day-to-day financial operations.
• Help maintain compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and company procedures.
• Support internal and external audit requests by preparing schedules and required documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and contribute to operational efficiencies.

Qualifications (What We're Looking For)

• 0+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related field, including internships, co-op experience, or equivalent experience.
• Foundational knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP or financial systems is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Collaborative mindset with a willingness to learn and contribute across teams.
• Hybrid role based in Charlotte, NC, with an expectation of working in the office four days per week.

The base salary range for this role is $58,000-$70,000. This position is not eligible for bonus or commission compensation. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
