Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a certified welding training program or apprenticeship.
- Proven experience in surface welding or a related welding discipline.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with welding safety standards and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification from the American Welding Society (AWS) or equivalent.
- Experience working with a variety of metals including steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
- Knowledge of welding inspection techniques and non-destructive testing methods.
- Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting purposes.
Responsibilities:
- Perform surface welding tasks using various welding techniques such as TIG, MIG, and stick welding to repair or enhance metal components.
- Interpret and follow detailed blueprints, welding symbols, and technical specifications to ensure accurate weld placement and quality.
- Inspect welded surfaces for defects and perform necessary adjustments or repairs to meet quality standards.
- Maintain welding equipment and ensure all tools are in safe, working condition before and after use.
- Collaborate with engineers, quality control personnel, and other technicians to troubleshoot welding issues and improve processes.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and industry regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Document welding activities, including materials used, weld parameters, and inspection results for quality assurance purposes.
