Principal Data Scientist, Gen AI and Vision

What's the role?

HERE is building advanced visual AI systems at the intersection of generative modeling, scene understanding, structured control and production-grade computer vision.

You will own the model strategy for a major technical pillar. That means deciding how models are adapted, evaluated, integrated and prepared for production, while solving difficult problems such as structural drift, temporal instability, inconsistent outputs and deployment fragility.

This is not a research-only position. You will turn promising pre-trained models and ambiguous prototypes into reliable capabilities that can support real mapping, perception and simulation workflows.

What will you do?

• Set the technical direction for generative and multimodal vision systems, including model inputs, controls, outputs and downstream interfaces.
• Build and evolve end-to-end workflows for training, fine-tuning, benchmarking and deploying advanced vision models.
• Improve realism, controllability, temporal consistency, robustness and production readiness.
• Design ablation studies, model-selection frameworks and adaptation strategies when off-the-shelf models are not enough.
• Partner with evaluation, simulation and platform engineers to establish metrics, release gates and durable system interfaces.
• Shape model packaging, inference optimization and production performance tradeoffs.
• Mentor scientists and engineers while raising the bar for architecture, experimentation and technical decision-making.

Who are you?

You combine deep modeling expertise with the judgment and engineering discipline required to ship complex AI systems.

• Deep experience in generative video, world models, diffusion models, multimodal systems or adjacent advanced-vision domains.
• Strong computer-vision foundations and experience with scene understanding, temporal data or structured-control generation.
• Advanced Python and PyTorch skills with modern model-training and evaluation workflows.
• A track record of adapting large pre-trained models to specific product needs.
• Experience defining rigorous benchmarks, quality metrics and production-readiness criteria.
• Ability to own an ambiguous technical domain and align research, engineering and product partners.

It would be great if you also bring

• Experience with simulation-grounded visual systems or sensor-derived data.
• Experience optimizing inference for cloud or edge environments.
• Published research, open-source contributions or patents in relevant AI domains.
• Graduate degree in computer science, AI, machine learning or a related field.

The expected base salary range for this position is $195,000 to $210,000 per year. Actual compensation will be based on factors such as skills and experience. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, which is subject to company and individual performance.
