Role Summary

The AI/ML Intern will support the development, testing, and deployment of artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions that enhance Heven AeroTech's unmanned aerial systems and business operations. Working alongside software, systems, and engineering teams, the intern will gain hands-on experience with data analysis, machine learning models, computer vision applications, and AI-driven technologies in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assist in the development, training, testing, and evaluation of machine learning and artificial intelligence models.
• Support data collection, cleaning, labeling, and preprocessing activities.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis and generate insights from structured and unstructured datasets.
• Assist with computer vision, object detection, image processing, and autonomous system projects as applicable.
• Develop scripts, tools, and automation solutions to support AI/ML workflows.
• Participate in model validation, performance testing, and optimization efforts.
• Support the documentation of algorithms, datasets, experiments, and technical findings.
• Collaborate with software, systems, and engineering teams on cross-functional projects.
• Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and team meetings.
• Follow company policies, procedures, cybersecurity requirements, and engineering best practices.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
• Understanding of machine learning fundamentals and data analysis concepts.
• Experience programming in Python.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with data structures, algorithms, and software development fundamentals.
• Eagerness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced technical environment.

Preferred

• Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, Keras, or similar tools.
• Experience with data visualization, statistical analysis, or predictive modeling.
• Familiarity with computer vision, image processing, natural language processing, or autonomous systems.
• Experience with Git, GitHub, or software version control systems.
• Experience working with cloud platforms, databases, or large datasets.
• Participation in AI/ML projects, research, hackathons, internships, or open-source contributions.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
• Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing and operating computer equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
• Ability to occasionally move throughout office, laboratory, warehouse, manufacturing, or flight-test environments.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when entering manufacturing or production areas.
