Position Overview:
As we expand, we're looking for a Software Engineering Intern who is interested in solving challenging problems in Counter Unmanned Airborne Systems (C-UAS) and Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management (UTM).
Location:
Learn, innovate, and grow alongside the team! This internship is onsite in Syracuse, NY, offering hands-on R&D experience and opportunities to collaborate closely with experienced engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development of software components across our full stack, leveraging AWS services, Python, Flask, and SQL databases
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, architect solutions, and implement features
- Improve on and expand the capabilities of our existing enterprise tools and customer facing-products, ensuring secure seamless communication and data synchronization
- Participate in collaborative design and code reviews.
- Document and clearly communicate designs to peers
- Test and validate designs to ensure proper and bug free operation
What We’re Looking For:

- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
Required Qualifications:
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s Degree program pursuing Computer Science or Software Engineering, or a Bachelor’s Degree program in Computer or Electrical Engineering with a strong programming background
- Completed Sophomore year or greater by Summer 2027
- A minimum grade point average of 3.4. Recent transcript is required with application (unofficial transcripts are acceptable)
- Proficiency with Python
- Experience using and developing on Linux platforms
- Understanding of SQL databases (Postgres, MySQL) and database design principles
- Familiarity with protocols like ZeroMQ, SSH, HTTP and TLS
- Understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and implementation best practices
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with AWS services such as EC2, S3, and Lambdas
- Proficiency with or willingness to learn C++
- Experience with or a desire to learn about distributed sensor networks
Hourly Rate Range: The hourly rate range for this position is estimated at $23 to $26 per hour. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Hidden Level considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
