Hillenbrand is a world-class industrial company with multiple market-leading brands serving a wide variety of industries across the globe.

Position Summary

The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer – Network Security will lead the design, engineering, implementation, and continuous improvement of network security controls across a globally distributed industrial manufacturing environment. The role will secure enterprise networks, cloud connectivity, remote access, and IT/OT boundaries while ensuring resilient, scalable, and compliant security architecture across regions.

Work this position does

  • Design, implement, and maintain global network security architecture, standards, and engineering baselines.
  • Administer and optimize next-generation firewalls, network segmentation, secure remote access, VPN, SASE/SSE, IDS/IPS, and related security controls.
  • Strengthen IT/OT segmentation and secure connectivity to manufacturing sites, plants, data centers, and industrial systems in coordination with OT and plant engineering teams.
  • Lead firewall rule reviews, access-control assessments, network security hardening, configuration reviews, and remediation of identified weaknesses.
  • Support security incident response by investigating network-based threats, analyzing traffic and logs, implementing containment measures, and coordinating with the SOC and incident response teams.
  • Manage network security changes, upgrades, lifecycle management, high availability, disaster recovery, and configuration backups.
  • Establish global network security standards while accommodating regional regulatory requirements, data residency constraints, and operational needs.
  • Evaluate new technologies, identify architectural gaps, and develop roadmaps for network security modernization.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, workplace technology, identity, vulnerability management, and third-party service providers.
  • Maintain technical documentation, network security diagrams, operational procedures, audit evidence, and risk exceptions.
  • Provide technical inputs during complex implementations, outages, incidents, and security improvement initiatives.

Specific Objective of this role

Establish and continuously improve a consistent, resilient, and risk-based network security posture across all global locations, with particular emphasis on secure IT/OT connectivity, effective network segmentation, controlled privileged and third-party access, and rapid containment of network-based threats—without disrupting critical manufacturing operations.

Basic Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Telecommunications, Cybersecurity, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 13–15 years of relevant experience in network engineering and network security, including substantial hands-on experience in enterprise-scale environments.
  • Strong experience designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and operating enterprise network security solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience working across geographically distributed environments and coordinating with global IT and infrastructure teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCNP Security, CCIE Security or equivalent vendor certifications. Current certification names and availability should be validated during recruitment.
  • Hands-on experience with next-generation firewalls, firewall policy management, IDS/IPS, VPN, secure remote access, network access control, and network segmentation.
  • Experience with SASE/SSE platforms, cloud network security, zero-trust network access, and hybrid enterprise connectivity.
  • Knowledge of industrial cybersecurity and OT environments, including Purdue-model concepts, industrial DMZs, secure remote vendor access, and segmentation of manufacturing networks.
  • Familiarity with IEC 62443, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, NIST SP 800-82, and relevant regional regulatory requirements.
  • Experience integrating network security telemetry with SIEM/SOC platforms and supporting threat detection, investigation, and incident containment.
  • Experience in global manufacturing, industrial machinery, engineering, automotive, chemicals, food processing, or other environments with operationally critical sites.
  • Strong troubleshooting, architecture documentation, vendor management, risk assessment, and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Ability to lead technical initiatives across time zones and provide technical guidance to internal teams and service providers.
