We are currently accepting applications for an energetic, experienced Chief Engineer to join the team here at Embassy Suites Orlando Lake Buena Vista South. Our award-winning property is 300 suites with 40,000 sq. ft. of meeting, pre-function, and event space. We have a very experienced management team, which runs this very busy hotel and convention center in an exceptional manner with high standards, expectations, and strong results orientation.
Scope of Position
Responsible for overseeing and coordinating the entire operation of the Engineering department. Hire, train, and develop the engineering team. Interact with other departments, guests and other managers to ensure that the hotel is properly maintained. Coordinate all maintenance schedules to minimize the effect on other departments and the guests.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and control the expenses, budget, purchasing and invoice processing.
- Evaluate and develop training programs as needed to ensure proper maintenance of the facility.
- Manage the department to ensure that every shift has the appropriate staff to respond to maintenance of the hotel and equipment.
- Develop the preventative maintenance programs to ensure proper maintenance of the hotel and equipment.
- Coordinate with other departments on the scheduling of any engineering projects that may affect them.
- Maintains and adheres to our company values.
- Obtain pricing, bids, and develops cost estimates as directed.
- Supervise engineering staff in maintaining and repairing room equipment, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, kitchen appliances, refrigeration equipment, pool equipment, lighting, laundry equipment and other systems/equipment as directed.
Education/Experience
- Two years of college or vocational training in electrical / mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
- Three years of experience in heating/ air conditioning and refrigeration. Experience in facilities maintenance, plant operations or engineering services for a hotel or private company.
Certification
- Professional certification and license if required by law. EPA certification for refrigerant reclamation and charging.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, blueprint reading, and computer operations.
