Data Analyst, Audience Insights & Analytics
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Data Analyst to join our Product team. This role is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and actionable use of audience and performance data across our digital publishing ecosystem. The ideal candidate has deep experience with publishing analytics platforms, understands how different measurement methodologies influence reporting, and can translate complex data into clear business recommendations.
This position serves as the trusted expert for audience measurement, helping Product, Editorial, Marketing, Advertising, and Executive Leadership make informed decisions based on reliable data.
Key Responsibilities
1. Audience Analytics & Reporting
- Analyze audience behavior, engagement, subscription, and advertising performance across multiple digital properties.
- Develop recurring reports and executive summaries that provide clear insights into business performance.
- Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities impacting traffic, engagement, conversion, and retention.
- Translate data into actionable recommendations for Product, Editorial, Marketing, and Revenue teams.
2. Data Validation & Quality Assurance
- Establish processes for validating and verifying the accuracy of all reporting before distribution.
- Audit analytics implementations to ensure data is collected correctly.
- Identify tracking gaps and recommend improvements.
- Develop standardized QA processes for analytics implementations.
- Maintain confidence in executive reporting through rigorous validation practices.
3. Technical Troubleshooting & Implementation
Partner closely with Product and Engineering teams to:
- Troubleshoot analytics integrations and tracking issues.
- Validate tagging implementations.
- Test new analytics events prior to launch.
- Ensure accurate event collection across websites, mobile experiences, and marketing channels.
- Recommend enhancements that improve measurement accuracy and reporting capabilities.

Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Business, Marketing, Computer Science, or related field.
- 3-5+ years of experience in digital analytics, preferably within a media or publishing organization.
- Advanced proficiency in Google Analytics 4.
- Experience with Parse.ly, Comscore, and Omeda or other CDP.
- Strong understanding of attribution models, audience measurement, and digital marketing metrics.
- Experience with Google Tag Manager and event tracking.
- Experience with SQL for querying large datasets.
- Strong understanding of website tracking architecture and analytics implementation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with subscription-based media businesses.
- Familiarity with advertising metrics (CPM, viewability, impressions, revenue attribution).
- Experience with A/B testing and experimentation analysis.
- Knowledge of SEO, audience development, and content performance measurement.
- Experience working with first-party customer data platforms (CDPs) and CRM systems.
- Familiarity with data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
- Basic knowledge of JavaScript for troubleshooting analytics implementations.
