Software Development Lead (Backend / Payments Infrastructure)
Location : Bangalore (On-Site)
Experience : 7 to 10 Years

Opportunity Overview :
At the heart of the Indian fintech revolution, this role offers the opportunity to lead the engineering efforts for a platform handling over USD 80B+ in yearly transaction volume. As a Software Development Lead, you are not just a manager but a primary architect of high-concurrency systems that must remain resilient during massive traffic spikes. You will lead a dedicated "pod" of engineers to solve complex problems in real-time payments, settlements, and automated reconciliation.
Technical Leadership & System Design :
- Distributed Architecture : Architect and scale distributed applications, making critical trade-offs between synchronous and asynchronous design patterns to ensure 99.99% uptime.
- Performance Engineering : Optimize APIs to support tens of millions of requests daily, focusing on reducing latency and improving throughput for our 600k+ merchant base.
- Database Strategy : Manage large-scale data persistence using RDBMS (MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB/Cassandra), implementing sharding and caching strategies to handle high-velocity financial ledgers.
- Code Excellence : Spend 50% of your time in hands-on coding and peer reviews, ensuring "Defensive Coding" practices and Test-Driven Development (TDD) are followed across the team.
Operational & Team Responsibilities :
- Agile Delivery : Establish and implement engineering best practices to ensure high-quality and consistent agile delivery within your department.
- CI/CD Integration : Participate in and lead the continuous integration of automated builds and deployments, ensuring that every deliverable meets functional and design specifications.
- Mentorship : Directly mentor SDE-2 and SDE-3 engineers, conducting regular one-on-ones, career pathing sessions, and fostering an "Engineering-First" culture.
- Security & Compliance : Partner with the leadership team to ensure all systems are PCI-DSS compliant and adhere to the latest RBI guidelines on payment data security.
Required Pedigree & Qualifications :
- Experience : 8-10 years of hands-on software engineering experience, with at least 1-2 years in a technical leadership or "Lead Developer" capacity.
- Domain Mastery : Proven track record in designing, building, and testing Java EE applications in a large-scale distributed environment.
- Education : B.Tech/M.Tech in Computer Science from a Tier-1 institute (IITs, NITs, BITS) is highly preferred.
- Soft Skills : Ability to collaborate with engineering leadership to architect solutions for the most challenging site/software development issues.
