Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with your squad and stakeholders, taking a technical leading role in shaping and delivering business outcomes.
  • Write and review clean, maintainable code, guiding others on best practices such as SOLID principles, design patterns, unit testing, peer reviews, and CI/CD processes.
  • Ensure documentation is accurate and up to date, and mentor team members on maintaining high-quality story documentation and technical clarity.
  • Actively support and mentor team members by sharing knowledge, providing guidance, and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
  • Guide and contribute to solution design, working closely with stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable and maintainable implementations.
  • Collaborate with engineers across teams to influence and evolve our architecture, promoting best practices and alignment.
  • Champion security and engineering standards, ensuring your work and that of the team adheres to organisational guidelines.
  • Adopt new ways of working, including AI-assisted development tools, and help the team navigate the evolving engineering landscape, including the move towards an agentic SDLC.
  • Foster effective collaboration with distributed teams across the United Kingdom, Portugal, Poland, and India, promoting alignment and consistency in delivery.

Skills:

  • Candidates should hold an academic degree in a related field (or 5+ years employment in a Software Engineering role), demonstrating increasing responsibility in delivery and technical decision-making.
  • They should have strong, hands-on experience in C# and .NET, with the ability to design, develop, and review high-quality code, and in writing effective unit tests.
  • They should have a strong background in SQL, with proven experience in designing, optimising, and maintaining databases in production environments.
  • They should have solid experience with CI/CD pipelines and a strong understanding of source control systems and branching strategies, with the ability to influence and improve team practices.

Behaviours:

  • Demonstrates strong technical competence and takes ownership of delivering high-quality software solutions.
  • Communicates clearly and collaborates effectively with team members, stakeholders, and cross-functional partners.
  • Open to feedback, actively learns new technologies and shares knowledge with colleagues to support team success.
  • Seeks to understand business objectives and contributes solutions that deliver tangible customer and business value.
  • Makes informed, risk-aware decisions within their area of responsibility and escalates issues appropriately when needed.
  • Consistently follows engineering standards, best practices, and secure software development principles.
  • Approaches problems with curiosity, analytical thinking, and a pragmatic mindset, balancing quality, time, and business needs.
  • Adapts positively to changing priorities, new technologies, and evolving business requirements.
  • Contributes to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, tools, and ways of working.
  • Builds positive working relationships through professionalism, empathy, and respect for diverse perspectives.
  • Takes accountability for personal development and actively seeks opportunities to expand technical and domain knowledge.
  • Supports team success by being dependable, collaborative, and willing to help others when needed.
