Hitachi is a Japanese conglomerate founded in 1910 by Namihei Odaira as an electrical repair shop inside a copper mine, which grew into one of the country's largest industrial groups. After a decade of restructuring it now concentrates on digital systems and services, green energy and mobility, selling grid equipment through Hitachi Energy, trains and signalling through Hitachi Rail, and storage and data platforms through Hitachi Vantara. Its Lumada portfolio ties operational technology to software, and the 2021 acquisition of GlobalLogic gave the group a large digital engineering arm serving customers outside Japan.

  • Organise and lead kick-off meetings for Construction & Commissioning project teams.

  • Drive the successful handover from Tendering and Engineering into Construction & Commissioning, ensuring clear ownership of scope, schedule, budget, risks, and opportunities.

  • Define Construction & Commissioning responsibilities, resource requirements, and delivery strategies to support successful project execution.

  • Lead the review, approval, and implementation of constructability strategies during mobilisation and execution phases.

  • Monitor construction progress, project performance, resource loading, budgets, and forecasts, implementing recovery and mitigation plans where required.

  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks and opportunities throughout execution.

  • Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and key stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and successful project outcomes.

  • Lead and support commercial discussions relating to change management, variations, claims, additional costs, and cost control activities.

  • Challenge constructively and drive decision-making in complex project environments.

  • Participate in project reviews and provide accurate reporting on project status, progress, risks, and recovery plans.

  • Ensure all Construction & Commissioning activities are delivered in accordance with company processes, industry standards, and project requirements.

  • Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and the implementation of best practices across projects.

  • Experience delivering Construction and/or Commissioning activities within major infrastructure, energy, utilities, industrial, or engineering projects.

  • Experience within High Voltage (HV), HVDC, substations, offshore wind, transmission & distribution, or power generation projects would be highly advantageous.

  • Strong stakeholder management experience, with the ability to influence and engage effectively across project teams, clients, contractors, and suppliers.

  • Commercial awareness, including exposure to project budgets, forecasting, change management, variations, claims, and cost control activities.

  • Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and deliver against project deadlines.

  • Strong communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to identify issues proactively, take ownership, and implement practical solutions.

  • Comfortable operating in dynamic project environments and adapting to changing priorities.

  • Experience working within EPC, transmission, renewable energy, or large-scale infrastructure projects is desirable.

What We're Looking For

We value attitude, potential, and cultural fit as much as years of experience. Whether you've delivered one major project or several, we're keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:

  • The ability to see the bigger picture while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a strong team ethic.
