The opportunity
Hitachi Energy is seeking a Senior R&D Engineer, specialist in Power Electronics, for the Business Unit Transformers to join our innovative and forward-thinking team. In this role, you will take on significant responsibility for the development and delivery of innovative products and technologies. In particular, you will lead initiatives related to the application of power electronics in power transformers.
You will leverage your technical expertise to lead key aspects of projects, ensuring that solutions meet the highest standards of quality and performance while adhering to strict deadlines and budgets. This is a high-impact role with excellent opportunities for career growth and development.
How you'll make an impact
- Review the state of the art of Power Electronics in the Energy Industry sector.
- Evaluate how Power Electronics could fit in small, medium and large Power Transformers and identify all possibilities of application.
- Define needs and specifications for potential projects.
- Be our speaking voice on these topics for discussions with other groups of Hitachi specialized in power electronics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate power electronics.
- Drive innovation by contributing to technology roadmap and strategy in related field.
- Prepare technical documentation and reports to communicate findings and support knowledge transfer.
- Identify leading third parties in Power Electronics and engage with external stakeholders (customers, universities, research centers) to foster partnerships and promote technical excellence.
- Maintain an overview of intellectual property in your area of expertise and develop strategies for projectrelated IP. Identify and manage potential risks associated with R&D projects and contribute to risk management in your organization.
Your background
- We are looking for an MS degree in Electrical engineering or relevant engineering branch. (PhD in Electronics or Industrial Engineering will be valuable).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Power Electronics in R&D, engineering, or academic research.
- Former experience in Solid State Transformers will be valuable.
- Ability to effectively use external and internal standards and regulations.
- Awareness of intellectual property considerations in the research and development process.
- A structured, problem-solving, self-driven, solutions-oriented approach
- Spirit of innovation, out of the box thinking.
- Excellent abilities in teamwork in international teams with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Fluent spoken and written English.
