The Electrical Engineering Intern will support HMH's Engineering team in the design, development, and testing of electrical control systems used in drilling equipment. This internship provides hands-on exposure to real-world engineering projects, including schematic capture, control cabinet design, PLC integration, and lab testing. The intern will work alongside experienced engineers and gain practical experience applying classroom knowledge to industry problems while contributing to the development of safe, efficient, and reliable products.
The Electrical Engineering Intern will be responsible for:
- Assist senior engineers with the design and documentation of electrical control cabinets, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Participate in the integration and testing of PLC-based control systems.
- Assist with component selection, specification review, and vendor research for electrical hardware.
- Support lab testing, troubleshooting, and validation of prototypes and production equipment.
- Collect and analyze test data; help prepare technical reports and presentations summarizing results.
- Collaborate with mechanical, software, and commissioning teams on cross-functional projects.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled at the time internship commences and working toward completion of a Bachelor or Graduate degree from an accredited university or college with Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline from an ABET-accredited university majors preferred.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across multiple functions.
- Ability to work independently or within a larger team as required by the project.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
