Config Strategist, Price and Quote Agentic AI Product Owner

Description -

The Strategist, CPQ Agentic AI Product Owner is responsible for defining and driving the product vision, roadmap, and execution for agentic AI capabilities embedded within Configure, Price, Quote (CPQ) processes. Sitting within the Pricing organization, this role serves as the bridge between pricing strategy, commercial policy, sales operations, and technology teams to ensure AI-enabled quoting and pricing workflows are scalable, compliant, efficient, and aligned to business outcomes. The role owns the end-to-end product backlog for AI-enabled CPQ use cases, including guided configuration, pricing recommendations, approval orchestration, exception handling, and workflow automation.

Responsibilities

  • Define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for agentic AI capabilities within CPQ, ensuring alignment with pricing objectives, commercial policy, and enterprise digital transformation priorities.
  • Partner with Pricing, Sales, Deal Desk, RevOps, Finance, Legal, and IT to identify high-value use cases that improve quote quality, deal velocity, pricing accuracy, policy compliance, and user productivity.
  • Translate business needs into epics, features, user stories, and acceptance criteria for engineering and platform teams.
  • Own and prioritize the product backlog for AI-enabled CPQ capabilities such as guided selling, pricing recommendations, discount guardrails, approval routing, exception management, knowledge retrieval, and quote validation.
  • Establish clear business rules, governance requirements, and guardrails for agentic AI in pricing and quoting workflows, including controls for compliance, explainability, auditability, and human-in-the-loop decision points.
  • Work with data, architecture, and engineering teams to define data requirements, integration needs, and technical dependencies across CPQ, CRM, ERP, pricing engines, and analytics platforms.
  • Lead business process design for future-state AI-enabled quote-to-cash workflows, balancing automation with risk management and policy adherence.
  • Drive user acceptance testing, release readiness, and change management to ensure new capabilities are adopted effectively across commercial teams.
  • Monitor product performance and business impact using defined KPIs, and continuously refine the roadmap based on outcomes, user feedback, and operational insights.
  • Serve as the business product leader and subject matter expert for CPQ agentic AI capabilities within the Pricing organization.

Education & Experience Recommended

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in product ownership, product management, business systems, pricing operations, sales operations, or quote-to-cash transformation roles.
  • Deep knowledge of CPQ processes, including product configuration, pricing rules, discounting, approvals, quote generation, and downstream quote-to-cash impacts.
  • Experience working with enterprise CPQ platforms such as Salesforce CPQ, Oracle CPQ, Apttus/Conga, ServiceNow CPQ, or similar solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience translating business requirements into product backlogs, user stories, and delivery plans in an Agile environment.
  • Strong understanding of pricing governance, commercial policy controls, and approval matrix design.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving business stakeholders, technical teams, and enterprise platform owners.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence decisions across business and technical audiences.
  • Working knowledge of AI, generative AI, and agentic AI concepts, especially as applied to workflow automation, recommendations, orchestration, and decision support.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience implementing or scaling AI-enabled automation in pricing, sales, or commercial operations workflows.
  • Knowledge of data governance, model risk management, and responsible AI principles in enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with prompt design, retrieval-based workflows, agent orchestration patterns, and knowledge-grounded automation.
  • Experience with business case development, ROI modeling, and prioritization of digital transformation investments.
  • Experience in large, matrixed global organizations with complex product, pricing, and approval structures.
