Risk Intelligence & Investigations Manager

Description -

Job Summary

HP is seeking a manager to lead its global Risk Intelligence and Investigations team within Fraud Risk Management. This high-impact role protects HP’s assets, revenue and reputation by directing complex investigations, turning intelligence into action and helping senior leaders address significant fraud risks. You will lead a specialist team of investigators across the AMS, EMEA, and APJ, with opportunities to shape global investigative strategy and strengthen fraud prevention across the business.

Fraud Risk Management is part of HP’s Legal organization and works across business functions to identify, investigate and reduce fraud affecting service and warranty operations, sales, discounts and channel programs. The team combines investigative expertise, risk intelligence and cross-functional partnerships to support recoveries, improve controls and provide senior leaders with clear, evidence-based insights into emerging risks.

Key responsibilities

· Lead a global team of investigators by setting objectives, allocating resources, recruiting and developing talent, and managing performance against clear quality, delivery and business-impact expectations.

· Own the investigation portfolio for service and warranty fraud, sales fraud, discount abuse and related misconduct; assess allegations and intelligence, prioritize cases by risk and potential impact, and oversee timely closure.

· Direct complex investigations involving customers, channel partners, service providers and other third parties, ensuring robust investigation plans, evidence preservation, documented findings and appropriate escalation with Legal and relevant control functions.

· Translate investigation findings into clear recommendations for business and Legal decision-makers; coordinate recovery opportunities, contractual remedies and corrective actions, and monitor agreed actions through completion.

· Lead global case reviews with Customer Support and other stakeholders, providing concise briefings on case progress, emerging fraud patterns, financial exposure and decisions required from senior management.

· Partner with data science and analytics teams to develop fraud detection methods, validate leads, measure conversion into investigations and outcomes, and translate business risks into practical analytical requirements.

· Drive preventive control improvements arising from investigations and risk assessments, aligning business, technology and funding owners on priorities such as service and warranty validation, serial number integrity and channel controls.

· Build effective partnerships across Customer Support, channel compliance, Finance, Legal, Trust and Privacy, Supply Chain Security and technology teams to resolve complex cases, address control gaps and improve escalation processes.

· Define and maintain reliable measures of investigation effectiveness, including losses identified, validated savings, recoveries, case timeliness and remediation progress, using consistent definitions and accurate reporting.

· Manage external investigation and fraud technology suppliers, budgets and business cases, while maintaining awareness of emerging fraud methods and coordinating appropriate engagement with industry specialists or law enforcement through Legal channels.

Qualifications and experience

  • Required: Bachelor’s or graduate degree in criminal justice, security management, law enforcement, business, finance or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience and demonstrated competence.
  • Required: Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in corporate investigations, fraud risk management, security or a related field, including substantial experience leading teams and complex programs across multiple countries.
  • Required: Demonstrated success managing complex fraud investigations in service and warranty operations, sales, discounts, channel partnerships or comparable commercial environments.
  • Required: Strong knowledge of investigation planning, interviewing, evidence evaluation, case documentation, confidentiality requirements and escalation practices.
  • Required: Ability to interpret complex data and fraud patterns, challenge analytical results and convert investigative findings into recovery, remediation and control-improvement actions.
  • Required: Experience advising senior leaders through clear written reports and presentations that distinguish evidence from assumptions and support timely decisions.
  • Required: Proven people leadership across locations and cultures, including setting expectations, developing specialist talent and managing performance.
  • Required: Demonstrated ability to influence across functions, manage competing priorities and oversee budgets, suppliers or technology-enabled improvement initiatives.
  • Preferred: Certified Fraud Examiner or another relevant professional qualification in investigations, fraud risk, audit or security.
