HubQuest is a Polish outsourcing hub for IT services and analytics that builds dedicated IT and analytics teams for its partners. Its job ads cover senior data engineers and data and BI analysts working with Databricks and Power BI for client data management projects. The company is based in Poland.

About hubQuest

At hubQuest, we bring together IT and analytics specialists to build new technology teams and strengthen existing ones. We help our partners turn data into useful, reliable solutions, connecting technical expertise with an understanding of business needs.

We are looking for a mid-level Data & BI Analyst who combines solid Power BI and SQL skills with strong communication, good interpersonal skills and confident English. Someone who enjoys understanding the data behind the numbers and working with people to turn business needs into reliable reporting.

About the project

You will join a growing reporting project focused on calculating and presenting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for a global organisation. As the solution expands to include additional data sources and regional calculation rules, the team is building a consistent foundation for measuring and comparing performance across the business.

The challenge goes beyond creating dashboards. Different systems and regions may define or calculate the same indicator differently. Your work will help bring those definitions together, translate business requirements into reliable calculations and make the results clear and useful to business users.

The role covers the end-to-end reporting process: exploring source data, preparing and transforming it with SQL, building Power BI semantic models and delivering reports that people can trust. You will also investigate reported issues and help explain why figures differ across sources, calculations or reports.

Power BI and SQL are the core technologies for this role. The data platform uses Azure Databricks, but previous experience with it is an advantage rather than a requirement. You will have the opportunity to develop that knowledge while working with senior colleagues.

Communication is an essential part of the role. You will work directly with business stakeholders to clarify requirements, discuss reporting logic and explain findings. You should feel comfortable asking questions, contributing to discussions and building effective working relationships with people from different backgrounds.

You will collaborate in English with BI developers, data engineers, IT teams and business users across regions. The team is expected to grow as the project develops.

What you will do

  • Prepare and transform data using SQL: combine multiple sources, clean and filter datasets, aggregate information and implement KPI calculations based on agreed business requirements.

  • Build and develop Power BI solutions: create and maintain semantic models, DAX measures, reports and visualisations that make business performance easy to understand.

  • Work with advanced Power BI capabilities, including composite models, calculation groups and row-level security (RLS), depending on the needs of the solution.

  • Work directly with business stakeholders: discuss reporting needs, ask follow-up questions and turn sometimes ambiguous requests into clear requirements and agreed outcomes.

  • Translate requirements into data definitions, transformation rules and report behaviour, ensuring that business and technical colleagues share the same understanding.

  • Analyse regional differences in KPI definitions and calculation rules, helping maintain consistency while accommodating agreed business exceptions.

  • Investigate data and reporting issues: trace figures back to their sources, reconcile calculations and explain the causes of discrepancies in a clear, accessible way.

  • Validate datasets, measures and reports against agreed requirements, and support testing, releases and ongoing improvements.

  • Collaborate with data engineers and BI developers on data structures, dependencies and changes across the reporting process.

  • Keep colleagues and stakeholders informed about progress, open questions and potential blockers, raising issues early and helping move discussions towards decisions.

  • Use version control to manage changes and contribute to a structured, collaborative development workflow.

  • Document key definitions, calculation logic and decisions, and help users understand new reports and functionality.

What we are looking for

  • Around 3 years or more of relevant experience in business intelligence, data analytics or a similar role, with hands-on responsibility for SQL and Power BI deliverables.

  • Solid SQL skills: confidence writing and troubleshooting queries involving multiple joins, CTEs, aggregations and window functions, and working with data from several sources.

  • Practical Power BI experience covering data modelling, DAX, Power Query and report development, with an understanding of how model design affects accuracy, usability and performance.

  • Some hands-on experience with advanced Power BI features, such as composite models, calculation groups or RLS, and a willingness to develop further in these areas.

  • A good understanding of relational and dimensional data modelling, ETL/ELT processes and data quality checks.

  • Experience using a version control system, such as Git, to track and collaborate on changes.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills: you listen carefully, ask clear questions, build good working relationships and adapt your explanations to the audience.

  • Confidence in working directly with business stakeholders: you can clarify unclear requests, discuss different approaches and challenge assumptions constructively and respectfully.

  • Strong spoken and written English: you can actively participate in meetings, lead discussions about your work, explain technical findings and write clear requirements and documentation. English will be your everyday working language.

  • An analytical approach to troubleshooting: you can break down a calculation, check its assumptions and follow the data to find the cause of an issue.

  • The ability to take ownership of assigned work, recognise dependencies and keep others informed, while knowing when to seek input or support.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Azure Databricks, particularly querying and transforming data using SQL.

  • Familiarity with Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric or Delta Lake.

  • Experience with KPI reporting, Finance reporting or solutions used across multiple countries or business units.

  • Experience improving Power BI model performance or troubleshooting refresh and data access issues.

  • Experience collaborating with stakeholders across countries, cultures or business functions.

What you can gain

You will contribute to a reporting solution that is actively growing, with a visible impact on how a global organisation defines, prepares and uses its data.

This is an opportunity to deepen your Power BI and SQL expertise while broadening your experience across the data platform. You will work on real questions behind the reports: how indicators should be calculated, why results differ and how to make reporting more consistent and reliable.

You will also have the opportunity to develop your stakeholder collaboration skills, working directly with business users and seeing how your solutions support their day-to-day decisions.

You will have support from senior colleagues, ownership of concrete deliverables and room to suggest improvements to both the solution and the way the team works.

You can also expect:

  • Flexible working hours and remote work flexibility.

  • A casual, non-corporate working environment where ideas and commitment are recognised.

  • Benefits, including Multisport and private medical care.

  • Development opportunities, including online courses, an extensive digital library, experience exchange programmes and co-funded certifications.

  • International collaboration with colleagues across business and technology teams.

Interested?

If you enjoy using SQL to make sense of complex data, building useful Power BI solutions and working with people to understand what they need, we would like to hear from you.

You do not need to know every technology in our environment from day one. A solid foundation in Power BI and SQL, confident English and an open, collaborative approach will give you a strong starting point.
