Your Role
We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers focused on our Fan and Club products. You'll lead the teams that power millions of tickets sold, millions of livestreaming hours, and Club sports programs and high school athletic departments nationwide. This role requires a high level of strategic thinking, technical leadership, and management expertise to drive our mission forward.
As an Engineering Manager at Hudl, you will:
- Lead Team-Level Strategy: Shape and drive the strategy for your teams, ensuring alignment with Hudl’s overall vision. Your strategic insights will help set the direction for multiple teams and ensure we stay ahead in the market.
- Manage and Develop Engineers: Foster a high performance, team-oriented culture by leading and mentoring engineers ranging from senior to new-to-career. You’ll be responsible for developing leadership capabilities, promoting best practices, and ensuring high performance across your teams.
- Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work closely with leaders from various disciplines to plan and deliver enhancements across your product suite. Your ability to integrate diverse perspectives will be key to driving innovation and ensuring our products meet the highest standards.
- Drive Technical Excellence: Serve as a technical leader, guiding your teams in the development of robust, scalable solutions on the cloud. Your deep technical knowledge will be crucial in solving complex challenges and driving engineering excellence.
- Champion Agentic/AI Engineering Practices: Drive acceleration of our software development lifecycle via impactful adoption of AI development tooling and patterns. We're investing heavily in the best tools available to dramatically increase how quickly we're able to get our products in the hands of customers.

Must-Haves
- Have extensive experience in cloud technology and building highly scalable software solutions. You should have a proven track record of designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based systems that can scale efficiently and handle millions of livestreams and ticket sales.
- Demonstrate a track record of driving technical strategy and leading engineering efforts. You will have experience in setting technical direction for product areas like our Fan and Club groups and guiding your teams towards successful project outcomes, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic goals.
- Possess strong managerial experience. You must have a background in leading engineering teams, with skills in career coaching and performance management.
- Demonstrate an AI-forward mindset and strong bias for agentic engineering techniques. Hudl has been aggressively adopting AI coding tools and expects our engineering leaders to drive impactful and efficient adoption across their team.
- Proven communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and teams. Your ability to articulate ideas clearly and work effectively with various stakeholders will be crucial - you will partner with Product Management and Design to ship the future of our Fan experience and Club tooling.
- Experience in product partnership. Proven ability to partner effectively with Product Managers to shape and solidify the team’s roadmap is essential.

Nice-to-Haves
- Video processing and storage experience. If you’ve used tools like ffmpeg, or video livestreaming protocols like HLS, RTMP, SRT or similar, that’s a plus.
- Transaction processing and financial systems experience. We use Stripe to process transactions, Stripe Connect to power user payout and operate a financial ledger to track transactions. Experience working with end-user financial systems is a plus.
- Professional background in TypeScript, React, GraphQL, C#, MongoDB, and AWS. Adjacent languages, frameworks and services used at scale are also relevant experiences.
- Mobile development know-how. Hudl is heavily invested in React Native to bring our Fan experience to iOS, Android, and a variety of CTV platforms with a single codebase, so experience with React Native or mobile development (native iOS or Android) would be an asset in this role.
- Familiarity with hybrid teams. Our engineering team is spread across the U.S. with people working both in office and remotely. If you’ve worked with hybrid or remote teams before, that would help you adapt more quickly to Hudl’s working environment.

Compensation
The base salary range for this role is displayed below- starting salaries will typically fall near the middle of this range.
We make compensation decisions based on an individual's experience, skills and education in line with our internal pay equity practices.
This role will also be eligible for a long-term incentive (LTI) award. Any bonuses awarded are based on individual and company performance paid at Hudl's discretion.
Base Salary Range
$132,000—$220,000 USD
