Are you a Process Safety Engineer looking for an opportunity where you can combine your technical expertise with meaningful, hands-on project work?

We are looking for a Process Safety Engineer to join our Advanced Materials business at Duxford and play a key role in supporting and strengthening process safety across the site.

You will play an important role in these developments, including carrying out hazard studies for new equipment coming to site.

The role also offers a high level of autonomy. You will manage a varied workload across assessments, procedure reviews and project activities, organizing your priorities to deliver against business deadlines.

If you are passionate about process safety, enjoy solving technical problems and want to contribute to significant site investment projects, we would love to hear from you.

Role Responsibilities:

As a Process Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing and supporting a range of process safety activities across the Duxford site.
  • Contributing to a sustainable process safety culture, supporting the EHS and PSM teams in line with the divisional Zero Harm journey.
  • Supporting the maintenance of Process Safety Standards, Procedures and Guidelines.
  • Undertaking risk assessments and hazard studies, including studies associated with new equipment being introduced to the site.
  • Participating in root cause analysis as part of incident investigations.
  • Contributing to the commissioning of engineering projects.
  • Collaborating with the Process Safety Centre of Excellence to develop and implement best practices and solutions.
  • Managing your workload across procedures, assessments and project activities to meet business deadlines.
  • The position reports to the Process Safety and Engineering Manager and has no direct reports.

Experience and Competencies:

What we are looking for:

  • Graduate Engineer qualifications. A Master's degree or PhD would be considered an advantage.
  • At least two years of relevant process safety experience.
  • Previous experience working in process safety or in a role encompassing process safety.
  • Familiarity with Process Safety Management systems, including their implementation and improvement.
  • Practical experience with risk assessments and hazard studies.
  • Familiarity with management of change and risk identification and reduction techniques.
  • Familiarity with failure mechanisms, protection systems and their design.
  • Engineering design and optimisation experience across a range of unit operations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet.
  • Good teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Adaptability and the ability to organize your own workload.
  • A strong belief and conviction in Process Safety and EHS.

What We Offer:

At Huntsman, we want our employees to feel supported both professionally and personally. Our Duxford benefits include:

  • A competitive salary, and guaranteed annual payment of 4% paid annually in November (pro-rata for completed months worked in first year)
  • Opportunity to participate in Corporate incentive bonus scheme after qualifying period (subject to business and personal performance)
  • A pension contribution of up to 12%, where employee contributes 5% (other percentage options available)
  • Private medical insurance and an Employee Assistance Programme.
  • 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays, an additional birthday day off, and long-service leave.
  • Enhanced family-friendly benefits, including maternity, adoption, and paternity support.
  • Access to Cycle to Work and discounted gym membership schemes.
  • Company-funded training and development opportunities to support your career growth.
  • Access to over 10,000 online learning courses.
  • Free onsite parking
  • A collaborative and inclusive culture where safety, innovation, and continuous improvement are valued every day
