Job Description

Job Title: Quantum Hardware Developer. Location: Albany, New York, United States

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership to a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists developing IBM's next-generation quantum processors.
• Define and execute the process integration strategy for advanced quantum processor manufacturing.
• Lead cross-functional programs across research, development, and manufacturing teams.
• Drive technical decision-making and resource allocation to achieve performance, yield, and scalability goals.
• Develop, integrate, and scale complex semiconductor and quantum fabrication processes;
• Identify and implement innovative process improvements to enhance qubit performance and manufacturability.
• Optimize manufacturing variability, process integration, and production yield.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in quantum processor manufacturing.
• Mentor engineers and scientists while providing technical guidance across the organization.
• Communicate technical results through patents, scientific publications, and executive-level technical reviews.
• Represent IBM at industry conferences, professional societies, and external collaborations.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent related experience.
• Proven technical leadership in material and process engineering, particularly for qubit processor manufacturing.
• Experience leading cross-functional projects or technical programs;
• Strong expertise in semiconductor manufacturing and quantum processor fabrication.
• Deep understanding of process integration, manufacturing variability, yield optimization, and scalable fabrication processes.

Preferred:

• Doctorate degree in Engineering or a related field.

Benefits and Compensation:

• Annual salary: $192,000 to $222,000, depending on skills, experience, and location.
