ICF

ICF International is an American consulting and technology services firm founded in 1969 as the Inner City Fund, and it now works predominantly for United States federal, state and local government clients. Its practice areas cover public health programmes, energy efficiency and utility programme delivery, disaster recovery and resilience, environmental assessment, transportation planning and the digital modernisation of agency systems, alongside a marketing services business serving both public and commercial clients. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia and listed on Nasdaq, it employs around nine thousand people and depends heavily on federal contract awards.

Role purpose

To act as a consistent point of contact for a portfolio of grassroots sport and community organisations. The role builds an understanding of organisational needs, and connecting them with expertise and funding, and maintaining an active local network. It will build trusted relationships across schools, community organisations and local partners, helping them work together on shared priorities and making it easier to connect children and young people with relevant opportunities, support and facilities.

Key responsibilities

  • Build trusted relationships with organisations and maintain regular, purposeful contact across an allocated geography.
  • Assess organisational needs and connect groups to specialists, learning, funding routes, tools and peer support.
  • Welcome and onboard new partners, keeping network records, consent information and contact data accurate.
  • Coordinate local networking sessions, workshops and partner meetings that respond to shared priorities.
  • Capture outcomes, risks, case studies and emerging needs through CRM records and periodic reports.
  • Develop relationships with local authorities, schools, active partnerships, funders and voluntary-sector infrastructure bodies.

Skills, knowledge and experience

  • Experience in community development, membership support, sport for development, or network coordination.
  • Ability to build rapport, diagnose support needs and broker practical solutions.
  • Strong self-management and confidence working remotely and independently across a defined area.
  • Competence with Microsoft 365, CRM or database systems and accurate monitoring records.
  • Understanding of physical activity and sport inclusion, grassroots organisational challenges and community-led delivery.

Personal qualities

  • Inclusive and collaborative, with the confidence to build trust across schools, community organisations, public bodies and delivery partners.
  • Organised and solutions-focused, able to manage competing priorities while maintaining quality and accurate records.
  • Committed to widening participation and motivated to reducing barriers to sport and physical activity for underserved groups.
  • Comfortable travelling and working flexibly when programme activity, events or partner engagement requires it.
