At Ideagen, we're looking for a Database Engineer II to join our Database Engineering team and help support the critical database platforms that power our global portfolio of products.As a Database Engineer II, you will deliver database engineering work with increasing independence across SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments. You'll play a key role in database performance optimization, migrations, automation, and operational excellence while leveraging modern AI-assisted development tools to improve delivery and quality.Responsibilities
- Deliver database maintenance, performance tuning, and migration activities across our database estate.
- Own medium-complexity work from requirements through to implementation and release.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production database issues while contributing to long-term improvements.
- Use AI-assisted tools to accelerate delivery, validating outputs for quality, security, and accuracy.
- Contribute to technical design discussions and database modernization initiatives.
- Write and maintain automated tests and validation checks as part of your definition of done.
- Participate in code reviews, providing thoughtful feedback and helping raise engineering standards.
- Work within CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and modern Git-based workflows.
Skills and Experience
- Solid experience in database engineering, database administration, or a similar role.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL, including performance tuning and database operations.
- Experience with backups, high availability, security, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices, source control, and infrastructure automation.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A proactive mindset, attention to detail, and a passion for continuous learning.
