Role OverviewIFS Group is looking to fill the position of HSE Officer on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be based in the Mainland / Surulere area of Lagos, Nigeria.
Job SummaryThe HSE Officer will be responsible for building and sustaining a robust health, safety and environmental culture throughout all facilities management operations. This covers hard services such as generators, electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing and lifts, soft services such as cleaning and landscaping, and security operations.
The position involves staff induction, risk assessment, incident management, statutory compliance and day-to-day safety supervision within a live, 24/7 public venue that experiences high foot traffic.
Key Responsibilities- Create and conduct HSE induction programmes for every newly recruited employee and subcontractor before they are deployed to site, and keep a full induction register containing signed records.
- Prepare, update and circulate Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) covering all facilities management activities, and revise them whenever the scope of work or site conditions change.
- Carry out routine safety inspections and audits across hard services, soft services and public areas, and follow through on corrective actions until they are fully closed out.
- Take the lead on investigating HSE incidents, near-misses and non-conformances, including reporting and root-cause analysis, while keeping precise incident records.
- Manage permit-to-work processes for high-risk tasks such as electrical isolation, working at height, confined space entry and hot works.
- Track and enforce adherence to Nigerian HSE legislation and applicable statutory and environmental requirements, including NESREA provisions, across all facilities management operations.
- Provide support to the Facility Manager and service leads on health, safety and environmental matters.
