Your Role atimpact.com:

You'll join the Shared Services and Infrastructure team as we scale the platform layer to support 600+ product engineers. Right now, the infrastructure that powers everything - Kubernetes clusters, VPCs, compute, storage, shared services - is the single point of failure for every developer-facing capability the platform team builds. You'll be a core contributor to designing, deploying and operating that substrate. You'll write production-quality Java code, own implementation of infrastructure abstractions, operate mission-critical systems, and work alongside senior engineers to continuously improve how the platform scales. This is solid mid-level infrastructure engineering work: enough ownership to move the needle, enough guidance to keep growing.

What You'll Do:

  • Implement infrastructure abstractions that service teams use to express their requirements: translating high-level requests into IaC parameters and production-grade deployments based on designs and guidance from senior engineers.
  • Deploy and operate platform-layer infrastructure: VPCs, compute pools, storage, Kubernetes clusters and the networking that connects them, using IaC modules provided by Cloud Operations.
  • Own the operation and maintenance of managed pub/sub messaging systems (e.g. Kafka) that service teams depend on.
  • Consume Cloud Operations' IaC modules effectively and feed back operational lessons and enhancement requests.
  • Write production-quality Java code that implements infrastructure abstractions, with security and best practices baked in by design.
  • Contribute to the team's infrastructure standards and practices: participate in code reviews, help improve operational runbooks, and share lessons learned.

What You Bring:

  • 1-2+ years of software development experience with Java or similar languages.
  • Strong software-engineering fundamentals: you write clean, testable code and understand how to build reliable systems.
  • 1+ year of hands-on experience deploying software to and operating in a cloud environment.
  • Comfort with Linux command line and solid understanding of network and cloud computing concepts.
  • Familiarity with IaC concepts and hands-on experience with IaC or GitOps tools such as Terraform, Argo CD or equivalent.
  • A collaborative approach: you work well with senior engineers, ask good questions, and incorporate feedback.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
