Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

We are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) for a global company inGothenburg.

Start is in Oct 2026, 12-months limited contract to begin with, possibility of extension after that.

What you’ll focus on

• Translate customer and system behaviour into clear requirements, acceptance criteria and automated end-to-end test cases for complete customer journeys.

• Design, code and maintain automated validation for complete customer journeys.

• Validate customer journeys across APIs, backend services, distributed services, customer integrations and graphical clients.

• Use the IDP’s test, CI/CD, environment and observability capabilities to make journey validation repeatable.

• Provide the IDP team with concrete requirements and feedback when tooling, environments, test data, simulators or softcars are missing, and help improve those capabilities when appropriate.

• Integrate end-to-end validation into CI/CD workflows so teams receive fast feedback.

• Use metrics, logs, traces, monitoring and alerting to understand customer-journey and service health.

• Contribute to incident investigation and recovery, feeding production learning back into automated tests, reliability and system improvements with sound AI-assisted engineering judgement.

What you bring

You are fundamentally a software developer who enjoys solving customer problems through code, automation, automated end-to-end test cases and investigation. You may currently work as an SDET, Software Engineer, Quality Engineer, Test Automation Engineer or SRE. The title matters less than your ability to build useful software and establish confidence in complex systems.

You understand that reliable automation is software: it needs clear design, readable code, useful failure messages, maintainable test data and environments, and feedback that engineers can act on. You are comfortable learning the domain, exploring unfamiliar systems and working with customers and colleagues to understand what must be proved.

• Experience developing software and automated end-to-end test cases with modern programming languages and frameworks, and using AI-assisted development tools responsibly to accelerate implementation, test creation and investigation while validating the results.

• Experience developing automated test cases and validating behaviour beyond an individual service or API.

• Practical experience with CI/CD, cloud environments, distributed systems and production-like integration scenarios.

• Ability to use observability data, including logs, metrics and traces, to debug failures and understand system health.

• Comfort moving between requirements, source code, pipelines, customer discussions and production incidents.

• Understanding of proportionate validation, maintainable automation and clear technical evidence.

• Ownership, constructive communication and a willingness to collaborate across customer and IDP teams.

Nice to have

• Experience consuming or contributing to Internal Developer Platform capabilities.

• Experience with customer integrations, simulators, softcars or service virtualisation.

• Experience with SRE practices, performance testing, resilience engineering or high-availability services.

• Experience from automotive, connected-vehicle or other business-critical domains.

• Customer integrations become faster, services become more resilient and recurring incidents decrease.
