As Senior Project Engineer you coordinate and organise project activities and the development team to deliver internal and 3rd development project and report status.

What you will do:

• Ensure key documents are released and kept up to date, such as Project Quality Plan, Product Release Plan, Statement Of Work
• Work with the Project Lead to Plan and document project activities with support from Project Owner and Product Architect
• Identify human resource requirements
• Schedule activities to meet roadmap commitments. Track task completion and ensure tasks are kept upto date by engineers.
• Understand and document risks and their mitigations, with support from the technical team
• Liaise with the project Lead and team members to understand, monitor and report project status
• Assist the project Lead to deliver the project
• Support the generation and documentation of project requirements
• At the beginning of the project ensure all equipment required throughout the project is identified, and is available to the project team when it is needed
• Manage ordering of prototype PCBs, metalwork and other items ensuring these are available when needed
• Promptly escalate any issues preventing the team from achieving planned progress
• Organise appropriate review meetings and chair those delegated by the Product Engineering Manager
• Perform role of Project Engineer for several concurrent and/or large projects
• Manage and coordinate outsourced development projects with the 3rd party provider, reporting status, ensuring any internal dependencies are provided on time and loan equipment is arranged
• Drive the delivery of Project roadmap activities and support resource planning activities for the department managers.
• Support the department and department manager on related departmental activities.
• Keep internal stakeholders outside of Product Engineering up to date. Programme Management, Procurement and Operations.

Requirements

Qualifications

• First-class or upper-second-class (2:1) degree, or equivalent qualification, in a relevant technical or engineering discipline.
• Strong academic background in Mathematics and Science, demonstrated through A Level or equivalent qualifications.

Knowledge and/or practical experience in some of the following areas:

• The full product development lifecycle, from concept and design through to verification, manufacture and product introduction.
• Project planning and management tools, such as MS Project, Jira or equivalent.
• MRP/ERP systems, such as SAP or equivalent.
• Communications and modulation techniques.
• Electronic circuit design, prototyping and development.
• Analogue, digital and RF electronics.
• FPGA design and firmware development.
• Software design and development methodologies.
• Embedded software design and implementation.
• Programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Python, HTML and JavaScript.
• Digital Signal Processing (DSP) techniques.
• Basic network technologies and communication protocols.
• Computer-Aided Design (CAD) of mechanical parts and assemblies.
• Introduction of new products into a manufacturing environment.

Candidates are not expected to have experience in every area listed above; a broad technical foundation and the ability to develop knowledge in new areas are important.

Work Experience

• Previous experience in a design engineering or product development role.
• Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team would be advantageous.
