The Role and Impact
As a Principal Engineer in AI Applied Research, you will lead the development and implementation of cutting-edge AI models to address high-value business challenges. Your work will span the full research cycle, from exploring academic literature to creating production-ready solutions. By delivering innovative AI methods and tools, you will shape technical direction and drive impact across Intel and the broader industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct applied research to design and implement innovative AI models, including machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and other areas.
- Perform literature reviews, technical assessments, and foundational research to identify opportunities and inform technical strategy.
- Develop proof-of-concept models and transition them to production-ready solutions that address business-critical challenges.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers and researchers, fostering an environment of collaboration and growth.
- Align organizational goals with technical vision and formulate strategic approaches to deliver leadership solutions in AI.
- Act as a change agent to drive technical excellence and innovation across Intel and the industry.
Required Skills and Experience
- 3yrs+ of power and performance prediction of IPs, preferably memory and logic Foundational IPs.
- 3yrs+ Proficiency in Python and advanced programming skills applied to AI and ML model development.
- 5yrs+ In-depth knowledge of AI fundamentals, including experience developing machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, natural language processing, computer vision, or time-series prediction models.
- 5yrs+ Proven experience with algorithm research and development, ML model evaluation, training, monitoring, and deployment processes.

- Design and Technology Co-optimization knowledge
- Demonstrated track record of turning nebulous ideas into big tangible benefits.
- Track record of coaching and mentoring technical leaders and building collaborative research communities.
- Demonstrated ability to align technical strategies with business goals and drive impactful execution.
- Experience with prototyping, proof-of-concept designs, and systems thinking to address complex challenges.
- Expertise in technical documentation and communication of research findings to diverse stakeholders.
- Innovation-driven mindset and a commitment to disciplined execution in bringing technologies to market.
- Working knowledge of developing AI Agents.
Qualifications:
- PhD in a STEM field with special focus on Foundational IP development
- 10+ years of experience.
