Strong Middle Scala Engineer

We're looking for a Scala Engineer to join a long-term project for a Fortune 100 industrial manufacturer, helping modernize cloud-based services and data products used by dealers, enterprise customers, and internal business units globally.

Your Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Scala

• Build event-driven services, integrations, and distributed system components

• Develop highly available APIs and cloud-native backend solutions

• Contribute to architecture and technical design decisions

• Troubleshoot complex production issues and perform root-cause analysis

• Ensure software quality through testing, code reviews, and best practices

• Mentor team members and contribute to technical excellence

• Own services throughout their entire lifecycle

Requirements:

• 3+ years of commercial Scala experience

• 8+ years of software engineering experience

• Experience with Akka or Apache Pekko

• AWS experience

• Kafka, Kinesis or other messaging platforms

• Functional programming (Cats, Cats Effect, ZIO)

• PostgreSQL and SQL

• Docker and CI/CD

• Microservices and distributed systems

• Strong architecture and problem-solving skills

• Java 17+/21

• Spring Boot

• Hibernate/JPA

• DynamoDB

• CloudFormation

• Flyway

• Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks

• Telemetry or large-scale event processing
