The Role

We are looking for a BA/DA - eCommerce Operations to become Intrepid’s dedicated e-commerce operations and finance analytics subject-matter expert across the region, based in Thailand, while acting as the go-to operations and finance data resource for country teams across all six SEA markets we operate in.

This is a hybrid role by design. You will own e-commerce operations and finance analytics requirements end-to-end - discovering what country operations and finance teams actually need, translating it into a solvable data problem, and then doing the hands-on SQL, dashboard, and reconciliation work yourself, working hand-in-hand with our central Data Engineering and BI team (based in Vietnam and Indonesia) in a hub-and-spoke model. You are not a traditional, non-technical BA who hands off requirements and waits - nor a pure data analyst who builds what’s asked without questioning it. You are the person who connects marketplace operations - pricing, promotions, fulfilment, and SKU/category performance - to financial outcomes, and who is experienced enough to surface discrepancies and signals nobody has thought to ask about yet.

The world is moving past the era of the static dashboard. Stakeholders no longer just want a chart to interpret - they want AI-native, proactive insight: analytics that surfaces what matters before anyone has to go looking for it, flags anomalies and drivers automatically, and arrives with a narrative and a recommendation attached, not just a number. In operations and finance, that means catching a pricing error, a margin leak, or a reconciliation discrepancy before month-end close, not after. We want this role to help lead that shift inside Intrepid’s e-commerce operations domain, not simply maintain the reporting model it’s replacing.

You will work directly with data flowing through Intrepid’s own PowerSell e-commerce platform and Finance Data Warehouse, as well as marketplace operations data crawled or pulled via official API from Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop Seller Centres, and third-party market intelligence and digital shelf data. Data accuracy has been a real, active challenge for our dashboards; this role is central to closing that gap between operational and financial reporting - and to reimagining what ops and finance reporting looks like once it isn’t just a dashboard anymore.

Key Responsibilities

1. Discovery & Requirements

• Lead requirement-gathering conversations and workshops with e-commerce operations and finance stakeholders, and support country operations and finance leads across all six SEA markets.
• Map how operations and finance data flows across PowerSell, the Finance Data Warehouse, and marketplace Seller Centre sources, to identify what a country team actually needs versus what they’re asking for.
• Translate open-ended questions (e.g. "why is reported GMV not matching finance’s reconciled revenue for this market") into concrete, structured data requirements.
• Maintain a prioritized backlog of operations and finance analytics requests, working the hub-and-spoke model with the central Data Engineering / BI team in Vietnam and Indonesia.

2. Analysis & Solutioning - Domain and Technical

• Own end-to-end e-commerce operations analytics: SKU/category performance, pricing and promotions, marketplace P&L, and fulfilment/returns - reconciled against Finance Data Warehouse actuals.
• Write your own SQL and build/validate your own dashboards rather than fully depending on the central BI team - pairing with a Vietnam- or Indonesia-based analyst for heavier pipeline or engineering work.
• Validate and reconcile operations and finance numbers against each other, escalating recurring data quality or reconciliation issues to the central Data Governance & Quality function.
• Interpret third-party market intelligence and digital shelf vendor data for competitive and category context, understanding the strengths and known limitations of each data source.

3. Insight Delivery & Stakeholder Management

• Present operations and finance insights and recommendations directly to country operations and finance leads and regional leadership - not just a finished dashboard, but a point of view on what to do next.
• Proactively surface non-obvious patterns and discrepancies across markets, rather than only answering questions as they’re asked.
• Act as the operations and finance domain’s voice within Data & Analytics, feeding requirements into the central data engineering roadmap - including Intrepid’s ongoing move from crawled Seller Centre data to official platform APIs for commercial and operational metrics.

4. Governance, Documentation & Scale

• Maintain operations and finance-specific metric definitions (e.g. GMV, net revenue, category margin), feeding into Intrepid’s broader BI Business Glossary and semantic layer.
• Document reconciliation methodology between operational and financial reporting to ensure consistency of definitions across all six markets.
• Contribute to operations and finance data quality monitoring, flagging recurring issues as candidates for automation.

5. AI-Native Analytics & Proactive Insight Generation

• Use AI tools such as Claude to move operations and finance reporting from reactive, end-of-month reconciliation toward proactive, continuous insight - automated anomaly and discrepancy detection, and "so what" summaries generated alongside the numbers.
• Prototype and pilot AI-assisted analytics workflows - automated reconciliation-variance alerts, pricing/margin anomaly detection, natural-language querying over operations and finance data - in partnership with the central Data Engineering team.
• Continuously evaluate where GenAI can replace manual, repetitive reconciliation and reporting effort, and hand off validated use cases into Intrepid’s broader AI transformation and automation roadmap.

Requirements

Technical & Data Capabilities

• Hands-on SQL and dashboarding experience (e.g. Apache Superset, Looker, Power BI, or similar), with the ability to validate and reconcile data from multiple sources yourself.
• Working knowledge of e-commerce operations data structures - SKU/category, pricing and promotions, fulfilment and returns - and basic finance/reconciliation concepts (GMV vs. net revenue, margin, accruals).
• Experience with or exposure to marketplace Seller Centre data (Shopee, Lazada, TikTok Shop) and finance data warehouse reporting is a strong plus.
• Comfort working with third-party vendor datasets (market intelligence, digital shelf) and reconciling discrepancies between sources.
• Genuine, hands-on experience using Claude or other GenAI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Gemini) for real analytical work - generating and debugging SQL, summarizing large or messy datasets, drafting stakeholder-ready insight narratives - not just casual or occasional use.
• Comfort experimenting with AI agents or no/low-code workflow automation tools (e.g. n8n) to prototype proactive, always-on insight generation rather than one-off, on-request dashboard pulls.
• Working prompt-engineering literacy - able to get reliable, decision-useful analytical output from an AI tool, and to know when to trust it and when to verify it.

Operations & Finance Domain and Business Analyst Capabilities

• Deep understanding of e-commerce marketplace operations: pricing and promotions mechanics, fulfilment and returns, and category/SKU management.
• Working understanding of finance and reconciliation concepts sufficient to bridge operational and financial reporting.
• Strong requirements-gathering and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to operate with minimal oversight across multiple country operations and finance teams.
• Excellent communication skills, able to bridge business/operations, finance, and technical/data audiences.

Preferred Experience

• 4-6 years of combined experience across e-commerce operations analytics, finance analytics, business analysis, or data analysis roles.
• Prior experience in e-commerce marketplace operations or finance reporting in Southeast Asia.
• Experience covering multiple markets or countries remotely from a regional hub.
• Exposure to finance reconciliation or data warehouse reporting systems.
• Prior experience building or piloting an AI-assisted or automated reporting/insight workflow, even informally, is a strong plus.
