Invesco is an American investment manager founded in 1935 that grew largely by acquisition into one of the larger asset managers in the world, running money across equities, fixed income, alternatives and exchange traded funds. Its most valuable single asset is QQQ, the exchange traded fund tracking the Nasdaq-100 and among the most heavily traded securities in existence, alongside a substantial institutional and retail fund business. Headquartered in Atlanta and listed on the New York Stock Exchange, it faces the same fee compression that has pushed the whole active management industry toward scale or specialisation.

As one of the world’s leading independent global investment firms, Invesco is dedicated to rethinking possibilities for our clients. By delivering the combined power of our distinctive investment management capabilities, we provide a wide range of investment strategies and vehicles to our clients around the world. If you're looking for challenging work, intelligent colleagues, and exposure across a global footprint, come explore your potential at Invesco.

Your Team:

The Advanced Engineer is a solutions-focused, delivery-oriented role, responsible for following established guidelines and identifying and resolving problems across the Investment Technology platform. With hands-on skills in at least one programming language (e.g. Python), modern web/UI frameworks such as Streamlit or ReactJS, and at least one database platform such as Snowflake or PostgreSQL, they will join a squad designing, developing and supporting solutions that advance business capabilities in Investment Technology, applying AI-assisted tooling and techniques where they add value.

Working across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and design through to build, test, deployment and support, the Advanced Engineer is expected to act with a degree of independence, while referring more complex problems to the Senior Engineering Manager or other subject matter experts. Their primary focus is on execution within defined parameters, applying modern engineering practices including CI/CD, automated testing, code quality, observability and data quality controls. They may also be accountable for regular reporting or process administration within the squad.

Working in partnership with more experienced staff, their responsibilities will expand based on developing capabilities, including growing exposure to AI/ML and GenAI approaches. A key part of the role is collaborating with colleagues across Investment Technology & Distributions, Cloud Teams, and Tech departments including Enterprise Architecture to ensure designs align with enterprise standards, security and the wider Investments strategy.

What you will be doing:

  • Build, test, deploy and support applications and services (e.g. Streamlit or ReactJS-based tools) across the platform's Cloud environment, contributing to ongoing Cloud migration activities.

  • Apply AI-assisted development tooling (e.g. GitHub Copilot) and AI/ML techniques where they add value to accelerate coding, testing, deployment and delivery.

  • Contribute to opportunities to apply AI/ML and GenAI across the platform, translating defined business requirements into practical, well-engineered technical solutions.

  • Build production-ready solutions using modern engineering practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, code quality, observability and data quality controls.

  • Support data quality, monitoring, reporting and process administration activities to help ensure accurate and consistent outcomes.

  • Identify and resolve technical problems, referring more complex issues to more experienced colleagues.

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, engineers and end users, and partner with Cloud Teams, Enterprise Architecture and Security to ensure solutions align with enterprise standards and the wider Investments strategy.

  • Design, develop and maintain software, data pipelines and analytical workflows that generate investment analytics and insights for end users across the Investment Technology platform.

What you will bring:

Essential

  • Proven commercial software engineering experience, with practical, hands-on delivery across the software development lifecycle (requirements, design, build, test, deploy, support). Responsibilities, autonomy and remuneration will be scaled to the individual’s demonstrated delivery capability.

  • Experience delivering software or data solutions, taking work from build through to production. Less experienced candidates will typically work within defined guidelines and with support, while more experienced candidates will be expected to deliver more independently.

  • Exposure to, or hands-on experience applying, modern engineering practices, CI/CD, automated testing, code quality, observability and data quality controls.

  • Experience working with business stakeholders to understand requirements.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology or a related technical field - or equivalent practical experience.

  • Good knowledge of Python and SQL.

  • Working knowledge of at least one cloud data platform (e.g. Snowflake, PostgreSQL).

  • Awareness of AWS cloud services (compute, storage, networking, security).

Desirable

  • Exposure to applying AI/ML techniques to business problems.

  • Exposure to GenAI, LLMs, RAG or agent-based workflows.

  • Experience using AI-assisted development tooling (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to accelerate delivery.

  • Experience working in an agile environment.

  • Experience in financial services, asset management or investment technology.

  • Relevant AWS or AI/ML certifications.

  • Effective communication skills, able to engage with both technical and business audiences.

  • Problem-solving and analytical thinking, with the ability to work through issues within defined parameters.

  • Strong collaboration mindset, working well within a squad and alongside more experienced staff.

  • Adaptable and initiative-taking, with a continuous-learning mindset and a desire to expand capabilities.

  • Sense of ownership and accountability, ensuring quality and reliability in delivery.

  • Curiosity and openness to experimenting with new AI tools, techniques and ways of working.

  • Working knowledge of a modern UI / web framework such as Streamlit or ReactJS.

  • Awareness of the AI/ML model lifecycle, training data, evaluation, tuning, monitoring.

  • Awareness of GenAI concepts, prompting, embeddings, RAG, vector databases.

  • Knowledge of Snowflake specifically, and its integration patterns on AWS.

  • Awareness of enterprise architecture, security and regulatory considerations in financial services.
