Bug fixing
Analyse reported software bugs to identify where the issue(s) is, seeking assistance where necessary from Senior Developers or other technical experts.
Communicate back to the Support team in Customer Success on progress of bug fixing, including timeframes, roadblocks and delays.
Make the necessary code changes including writing/updating tests, test them and submit a pull request for the code to be peer reviewed.
Support the QA team to test the changes and follow due process to release the change to the necessary environments including production/GA.
New features
Participate in and contribute to kick-off meetings for assigned new feature projects.
Analyse the components of the agreed features and create the appropriate work items. Work items include epics, features, user stories and tasks. The length of the work item determines which type it is. A user story, for instance, is a scenario that the user is likely to face and the journey they will take through Harmoni to get to their desired outcome. A user story is meant to take 2-4 days of development time.
Identify the individual tasks in each user story. A taks is not meant to take more than one day of development time.
Write code that matches the user stories; looping through trouble-shooting and code adjustments until confident that the code is ready to be tested.
Testing support
Develop code for functional, unit and end-to-end tests to ensure the feature code or bug fix code delivers the agreed user outcomes
Work closely with Testers to complete testing, looping through trouble-shooting until the code is ready for final review.
Release support
Following the final review, lead a demonstration of the user-side of the new code.
Loop through any adjustments, via the analysis, code-writing and testing tasks.
Complete any technical documentation.
Follow due process to release the change to the necessary environments including production/GA.
General
Ensure adherance to the software quality standards and principles agreed by the team and the wider PDG.
Provide continuous feedback about progress to others involved in each project.
Any other tasks as assigned by the Development Lead.
May provide support to less experienced developers within their areas of expertise
