The Opportunity:
As an Engineer on the Software Delivery & Developer Experience (SDDX) team, you will be a force multiplier for the entire engineering organization, enabling developers to ship high quality products at the fastest pace while ensuring the security and reliability of our products. This role is critical as we shift to integrating agentic AI into the day to day life of our engineers. You will also join the coolest team in the universe and be rewarded with the highest quality gelato in the industry (we hold our Leadership accountable for this, too).
How You Will Make a Difference Day to Day:
Join us on our mission to enable, inspire, and unleash elite engineering teams to deliver high quality software at unbelievable speed; to safely deliver better software faster, consistently across all products and teams.
Advance our foundation for Continuous Delivery - our Delivery Platform that makes it easy for developers to ship safely and quickly
Leverage agentic AI as a force multiplier across CI/CD, infrastructure, and developer tooling, finding practical ways to apply it in day-to-day work
Build, own and relentlessly improve our CI/CD pipelines for the whole engineering org
Stay curious about tooling, scout what's out there, run PoCs and bring in the tools that let us spend our hours on what actually matters
Implement self-service offerings to remove bottlenecks and enable our engineers to move faster independently while staying on the paved path
Answer daily the fundamental question these days: “now that AI is in the picture, how do we keep up with the accelerated pace of software delivery while ensuring the highest levels of quality, security and reliability in the industry?”
Own the end to end software development experience at Iru, from the moment engineers write their first line of code to post deploy production observability
Treat Iru engineers as your customers and SDDX tools and frameworks as products, defining and following industry standard processes for experimentation, release and observability
Influence without mandating: propose, design, promote and implement cross-team initiatives to improve the quality, reliability, and security of our products as well as the happiness and productivity of our engineers
Use data to inform your decisions: we heavily track and use productivity metrics (standard and custom) to monitor the satisfaction of our engineers and to decide what’s the next step
Requirements and nice-to-haves:
[Non-negotiable] Be a learn-it-all: this job is 90% mindset. You can pick up a new technology/platform/tool in no time and be ready to teach it to other folks as well as promote its usage
A Platform Engineering & Customer-Centric mindset are a must-have
You think in Python and speak Bash fluently, but resort to using plain English to explain deep technical concepts to a non-technical audience making it sound the easiest thing in the world
You are very comfortable with at least one Workflow Orchestration Tool: GitHub Actions preferred but CircleCI/Jenkins or equivalent are ok too
You eat Docker Containers for breakfast and use Kubernetes ConfigMaps to take notes
You don’t rest until you’ve built a Datadog (or similar) Dashboard that tells you how the build system you’ve just released to 20% of your engineers is performing at twice the previous speed while failures are capped at 1% (which you obviously built a Monitor for).
You have developed software and can feel the pain that comes from useless friction, slow deployments and a standing desk without a LEGO Ornithopter on it
You have experience in setting up and maintaining Terraform repositories that deploy AWS objects across multiple AWS Accounts, where multiple teams contribute daily
You have mentored other engineers and enjoyed investing in their growth
What Success Looks Like:
Engineers are more productive and genuinely enjoy how they build and ship software, and our team is a big reason why.
Software delivery metrics (DORA+, SPACE, etc.) tracked and steadily increasing consistently across all engineering teams
Products and tools we release to a small group of early adopters spread on their own, with other Iru engineers asking to be onboarded.
Iru engineers trust both our technical depth and our judgment. They come to us when they’re stuck or want advice, and they see us as partners, not gatekeepers.
Our platforms and tooling never stand in the way. Engineers know we value their time and productivity as much as they do.
Teams across Iru build, test, and ship using shared patterns and practices, so what works for one team scales to all of them.
