Staff Software Engineer (Data Platform)

Experience: 3-5 Years, Team: Data Platform

About the Role

We are building a modern, engineering-first Data Platform that enables product teams to build reliable, scalable, and self-service data solutions.

This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving platform engineering problems-not just building data pipelines. You'll build reusable platform capabilities, automate engineering workflows, and develop scalable systems that power multiple teams across the organization.

What You'll Do

• Build reusable platform components and frameworks using Python and Apache Spark.

• Develop and maintain production-grade data processing applications on Databricks.

• Develop standardized platform capabilities for data ingestion, processing, observability, and governance.

• Build APIs, libraries, and automation that improve engineering productivity.

• Work with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Delta Lake to build reliable data solutions.

• Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.

• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested production code.

• Troubleshoot production issues and drive them to resolution.

• Collaborate with engineers across teams to deliver high-quality platform capabilities.

Required Skills

• 2-4 years of professional software engineering experience.

• Strong programming skills in Python.

• Hands-on experience with Apache Spark (PySpark).

• Experience building applications on AWS/Databricks.

• Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals including:

  • Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)

  • Design Patterns

  • SOLID Principles

  • Data Structures & Algorithms

  • Clean Code Practices

  • Unit Testing

• Experience working with NoSQL/Relational Databases.

• Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.

• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

• Good understanding of scalable and reliable software development practices.

Nice to Have

• Experience building Data Platform or internal platform capabilities.

• Experience with Delta Lake and Lakehouse architecture.

• Exposure to Generative AI applications.

• Experience building RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) solutions.

• Experience with Agentic AI workflows.

• Exposure to Docker or Kubernetes.
